a few q's from the newbie

Hi guys,

just wanting to know what mods i can do to a 2000 (i think) model sp 20 - performance wise for under $2000.

all suggestions will be gladly noted, thanks.

are there stores in or near Brissy that specialise in the upgrading of Mazdas especially the SP20's.

well welcome to the forum!

you probably wont get many responses to those questions in this section - check out the aussie section, that's where the aussie's in particular hang out and you'll get more australia specific answers.

in terms of mods - plenty you can do...just depends on what you want. ask me any questions you like - i have the most modified australian sp20 which is still NA (there are a few turbo guys around in sydney)

ps - are you interested in cruises???

pps - i'd say you have a 2001 sp20. it didnt come out here until feb 2001 (yellow). other colours came out in late may 2001 (i have the first black one in brisbane)

Well i would like to keep the car N/A for a start, apart form that im not too sure what is avil for the sp.....
insurance may also pose a problem as im not 21 yet and have only have full comp for 6/7 months now. i saw in another thread that suncorp is not too bad for mods.... possibly an idea to swich from NRMA.

In your opinion whats the best bang for your buck performance mod for the sp? (i might put in an order for my 21st in Oct heheh)

cruise/meets sounds good... is there a big following in Brisbane?

there are a few followings in brisbane...the group seams to be growing slowly which is good.

ok for $2000 this is what i'd do.

lowering springs - up to $500 (eibach), or you can get cheaper australian ones (kings)
full exhaust system from engine to the rear.
if you have any money left over, window tinting and a cold air intake.

yeah stock as a rock atm. - not that its a bad thing.


thanks for the tips- will keep you posted on whats gonna happen with it ....... still has to pass the girlfriend approval test first.

well there have been atleast 4 brisbane ppl (including me) who have gone to rob bliss exhausts at geebung/virginia. he's pretty cheap and the work is top quality.
