A/C Noise?

It's starting to get hot here in Michigan. This means the A/C is being used more and more. Obviously there should be some compressor noise when the a/c is first switched on. Does anyone else hear more than just a "normal" noise when the a/c is first turned on? It sounds very strange, and not just the standard cycling noise. I have a 2005 2.3L Hatchback. The system works fine, though I think it takes some time to cool down. Any news on this stuff?

there is a tsb about the ac units... not sure if it includes the 05 model or not... take a look there is a sticky for it....

My '04 a/c compressor makes a weird squealing noise when I turn it on, but it goes away after one second. I ignore it. But I've been around cars so long I ignore most other's complaints and concern myself with more important things happening with my car.

WELL KIDDOS SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YA, BUT THE MAZDA 3 AIR NOISE IS TOTALLY NORMAL. I WENT TO MAZDA THE 1ST WEEK I GOT THE CAR WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THAT ITS NORMAL, NOT TO EXPECT NO NOISE FROM AN ECONOMY CAR. THEY SAID ITS JUST IN THE START OF THE AIR, AND SOMETIMES WHEN U ACCELERATE IT MAKES A FUNNY NOISE IF THE AIR IS ON. BUT ITS ALL GOOD, JUST TURN ON THE RADIO AND PLAY A SONG, I GOT OVER IT, BUT AT FIRST I MADE A BIG DEAL!!! HUGE, BUT THEY SAID WE WILL CHANGE IT BUT IT WILL DO NOTHING AND THEY DID, BUT IT STILL DOES IT! SO ITS NORMAL.
