12psi Protege5
OMG!!!
To make the long story short:

I was boosting over the limit, maybe 9psi, I dont know (crappy Autometer boost gauge), and...somehow I ignored the EGT alarm which is set to 680C which I understand is the max temp Im going to push my car and never experienced anything over 720C. And I pushed it!

Arrived home... and saw this:

The car runs fine as of now, this was just 1 hour ago

But I think my engine is hurt a bit...AGAIN! Has some water on the exhasut and it has some vapor coming out
Time to do compression test...

Must be a Homer.....Simpson. Because the Pitcher just said "DOh"

Man, gotta be careful bro. I hate seeing popped motors.

Well, worst scenario could be piston rings, which are cheap.
COuld be the head gasket.

because is just burning water....I dont know. I will check this week

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Did you pull out the dip stick and see if the oil looks milky? Try pulling out the spark plugs and shine a flashlight in there and see if there is coolant on top of the pistons. That sucks man! Hopefully it's not too bad..... :(

you know this group of aftermarket FI members are TIGHT with each other when you "feel" scared for another member as "if it was your own".

I hope it not bad.......you know what I am going through...and I feel for you.

keep us posted.

it shoud be fine if it hit 900c any thing more is bad, when i had my dsm it used to hit just bellow 900c on top of 3rd, and that was good, croosing egt where at 850c so youre car shoud be fine,

The probe is in the downpipe, not in the manifold. I understand it can reach 900C if the probe is in the manifold, before the turbine.

My car normally cruises @ 550C ~ 650C, top ever done was 720C leaning out. This time it reached 900C, first time in one year!!!!

As of today, the car is running perfect, not test done yet.

But I need to know what temps are meant to be dangerous in our cars.

damn!!! mine is right in the collector and i never see anything over 87C5... and that is climbing a hill or WOT 5th gear pulls.

Hope everything is good...

Is water coming out of the exhaust bad?? mine does that sometimes, i always thought that was normal... I just changed my oil today and no milkyness here..

Best of luck dude.

y is it in the dp, and not in the manifold most people do it in the manifold cuz you get the best temp reading if yours is in the dp 900c then is no good :(, for most cars it shoud be max at 900c on top of the geer if you have it in the man, but i dont know about the dp never seen any one do it i would gess 200c lower then that

my manifold is made in a way that i cannot install a probe where all the runners meet.
I could only monitor 1 runner.

if you can put it number 1 runner close to the cilinder, that is 1 place you can put it usally people put it there or where runners meet, i had it in number 1 runner since it runs the leanest

did you over-boost or did you intentionally hit 9psi?

well - the car shoots 7psi instantly but it looks like it overboost @ high rpms, maybe 9psi.

I need a greddy Boost gauge to record my max boost, just like I did with the EGT. I never knew the temps went that far, and I still dont know how much boost It pushed

I do know that I did 135MPH in a few seconds and the governor kicked in.

I thought the probe should go on the mani in front of the hottest cylinder. I thought I saw that #3 was the hottest. Does anyone know about the cylinder and probe placement for FACT?
