Having owned both vehicles, I must say that the Speed is a much more impressive package right out of the box. The 323's didn't have much in terms of a nice stereo, big brakes, 17" wheels or spoilers; However it did have some hot rod essentials that the Speed could have benefited from. For example, although the GT did not have a LSD and suffered equally from torque steer, but the GTX was a full time all wheel drive car, with a locking differential at the touch of a button. That would be a great option for the Speed. Another example is that the 323 b6t engine was designed to rally and it is a true 7.9 low compression engine. The engine actually has oil injectors under each piston which inject oil to cool & reduce friction to each piston and it's rings. I would love to have that in the Speed! And last but not least the GTX seats, which were somewhat reminiscent of those 2nd gen Prelude seats / very supportive.. The speed is faster right out of the box, but the 323GT's 1/4 mile time of 15.9 was easly droped with 15psi of boost and a disconect of the fule cut. I don't feel too safe boosting a high comp. engine with out forged internals and the correct engine management. I say we submit some ideas for some Mazdaspeed upgrade options. What do you guys think?
