My son bought 08 Mzdaspeed with 74 000 miles on ticker.
We are still diagnosing it, but it's very likely having infamous timing chain start up rattle. Likely, VVT actuator noise too.
We priced the job at local Greg's Japanese Auto, and they balked out of it. Same time, guy told me that he called University Mazda in Seattle, and they told him there was a recall on those, and it still should be repaired at no cost by Mazda. Son called some dealership in Bellevue, which is the hosh posh area here, and they told him it's out of extended warranty and he has to pay.
Yes, I do know about 2 TSBs issued and extended to 70 000 miles warranty on those. My question is:
Is there really a recall? If yes, what's the number/date, etc? Did anyone have success having it done by Mazda with only couple thousand miles over the limit?
