700 watts, 1.5 farad, and my lights still dim

Ive got 700 watts, 40x4 and 540x1, with a 1.5 farad capacitor and my lights still dim, hell my dash lights dim when the headlights are off even. i thought 1.5 farads was good for like 1500 watts? should i go bigger maybe?

Your lights are gonna dim no matter what. Its a fact of life so deal with it.

Yep, GotWake will be happy to explain to you why this is happening. Most caps are worthless. I know my 1 farad didn't help a whole lot on my Escort GT, and the MSP has an even crappier wiring setup.

before you invest a whole lot in a battery you should try putting in 1sty's grounding kit. My lights dimed quite a bit. I got rid of my capacitor(do a search, mine wasn't too expensive but it certainly wasn't helping anything) and put in the grounding kit and they no longer dim at all. I have 800w and all sorts of gadgets in my car.

the yellow top is the only battery in my car.....I just unhooked the factory one and dropped it in and it works like a charm

I think that's good advice, and it's on my list of upgrades. I dim my lights with an Optima red top and the factory Kenwood...pushing a DVC JL 12" with an overall 3 ohm load.

Yellow top is the only way to go if you're concerned about stereo performance......the red top does not handle the voltage as well as the yellow top.....thus the deep cycle

what the hell are you talking about? you can't deep cycle a battery when the car is running. If you are only using one battery get a regular lead acid battery. it charges more quickly than a "yellowtop."
