7.5 hr drive... silly question

I've noticed that people here, myself included, first say they don't need a timer until they have their car a bit longer. Then they realize that it's actually a lot more useful..

For me, the first issue was security. Well, there's not many stolen cars around here first of all. If my car gets stolen because of the timer, then the car will die, lock up and cause the person to crash. Then the thief gets what he deserves and I get new body parts for the car. About the stock alarm not working... Well, the stock alarm's a piece of s*** that's not going to help if a thief wants my car anyway. Sorry guys. If I'm worried about the alarm working perfectly everytime, I'll buy an aftermarket one.

Secondly, an issue about leaving your car running unattended. That kinda ties in to my first point about security. However, too many times to count, people have approached me as I'm walking away from the car telling me I left it on. When I show them the keys in my hand and tell them it's supposed to do that, they get a puzzled look and it's priceless. Good stuff.

Lastly, you may be able to sit there in a parked car for a minute doing whatever you do... I can't. I won't. Especially if I have people with me. "COME ON MAN" "No, I have to wait for my car".. That just doesn't work for me. Plus I've put over 30,000 miles on this car and I've only had it since April. When I drive, I tend to drive. Anything I can do to help protect this car, I'm going to do.

It's cheap, it works, it's protection. Why the hell not? What else are you going to spend $80 on? Lemme guess, a FCD & MBC so you can go blow your engine. Oh but wait, you have the colder plugs, you can't blow your engine!

This is like saying you won't buy condoms because you can pull out in time anyway...

Who said anything about upping the boost? No, you could use that $80 bucks for clothes. Without the threads, you're just a scrub in a car that runs without a key. LOL..j/k

erm, I think the last time I bought clothes for myself was around two years ago...

I normally start the car with WOT cause the oil pressure is low and I want it as soon as possible, and I let it cool down for the length of time it takes for me to set the e-brake and pull the keys out of the ignition, I feel that that is sufficent for proper heat dissipation, especially after a 3 lap auto-cross in 90 degree weather

(just kidding the car won't start at WOT, and I would be more concerned on cutting that trip time in half via radar detector, and 130 mph) just rember, don't drink and drive in the snow ((stupidest thread ever))

I agree with all of this, and wanted to add something about the security benefits that I didn't think about before I got it. On a cold morning, I can pull my car out of the garage and set the timer for 5-10mins. Then I lock the car, and go back in the warm house without worrying about the keys that I left in the ignition. When I am running a little late, this is very nice because I can warm up the car while getting ready.
