So when I am driving on the highway and am at WOT in 6th the rpms rise but the car doesn't seem to get any more power.. WTF?

Slipping clutch? What's the mielage on the car? You shouldn't WOT in 6th anyways unless you're going like 120 MPH.

thats because inless your goin at least over 100mph WOT in 6th gear isent gonna do s*** and is not good for your car ,just drop it down a gear

At normal highway speeds, WOT in 6th would be in the RPM range for max. torque. If the clutch is going to slip, this would be the most likely scenario.

Conclusion: the clutch is toast.

Well I was going 95+ because it happened before and i wanted to see if it would happen again. You think my clutch is really shot?? Every other time the car is in gear car works like a charm. The car only has 22k.

did you buy it new or used? the reason I ask is that the person before you could have roasted the clutch, it's happened to me before in cars I've owned.

So this does not happen in lower gears or when you downshift and then go WOT? Maybe I'm not understanding.

Try going WOT from a roll in 4th gear at about 3,500 rpm and up to about 5,500 rpm or in 5th gear in the same range and tell us if you are slipping.

Do you smell the clutch - very strong acrid smell after you experience this? If it is already glazed over, you might not smell much. But it ought to be slipping at max torque in any of the higher gears, not just 6th, if it's the clutch.

If engine revs are climbing rapidly in the above rpm range, but car is not gaining speed, then I agree with Matsuda, this would point toward a glazed clutch that would need replacement.

It sure sounds like clutch. The higher the gear, the more pressure you put on it.

All it takes is a tiny oil leak, or a moron previous owner....

No I bought it new but I don't really beat on the car or anything much out of the ordinary. I don't see why my clutch would be glazed or shot at 22k.

Agreed it is unlikely but, you have the appropriate symptoms. Check to see if there's any oil at the bellhousing flange, that'd indicate a main seal leak which will grease a clutch up in no time flat.

How does the clutch feel? Is it the typical all in at the top of the travel speed clutch feel? The only 2 other possible cause are also pretty unlikely, namely that the throwout bearing is hanging up on the input shaft retainer and not allowing the clutch to disengage completely. This'd lead to rough or stiff pedal feel most likely. Or, the slave cylinder isn't working right and is sticking, hanging the clutch slightly open.

You should be able to feel a tiny bit of freeplay and then feel a little buzz through the foot as the TOB touches the clutch fingers. If you feel the buzz w/o freeplay, the TOB is riding the fingers, which is likely to be caused by one of the above.

The clutch feels fine other than in the mentioned issue. I will check the bell housing to see if there are any leaks... but what I will most likely do is a new clutch because I plan on continuing my mods anyways it wouldn't be a bad idea. Any suggestions on what clutch to get?? I have been looking at the ACT and Spec kits, but I don't know which one to get. I don't plan on getting too crazy but I would like my clutch to be strong if I need it to hold extra torque.

A simple test would be to start the car and from a standstill put the car in fourth gear, hold the brake, and let the clutch out. If the car stalls quickly then the clutch is most likely still fine.
