2002 Yellow P5
I finally got a estimate on how much it would cost to fix the front driver side fender on my P5.

Some may remember...my wife ran over a razor scooter and totally f'ed up the fender.

So yeah...the place said $600.00 to bang it out, repair, and repaint the fender. I thought it was gonna be ALOT less. The guy even said that if I did the whole new fender thing it would cost even more because of the color blending on the yellow car?!?!

I am gonna try and get a few more estimates. Hoping I can find a good shop that will do it for less. There goes the money for the Carbon hood I wanted!!

Seach for a used one on car-part.com. There is a good chance of finding a yellow one and shipping it to your house....

yah, that site, local junkyards, call around, internet search, you will be able to find at least an OEM fender to replace ti cheap, may need to be painted may not depending on your luck.

plus for 600 I think you might be able to get a pair of aftermarket ones and paint them.

not like the sotck paint job is anything to scream about anyway.

I work at a bodyshop.....the fender is 162 right from Mazda. Just painting the fender and putting it on is 440. Thats not blending the paint into the hood or door.
Hope this helps you in comparison to what that guy is charging you.

I got my car just last summer. Do you think the paint has faded that much that just painting th whole fender with the color code will show a noticeable difference color wise?

My car was hit with an egg at high speeds and blew some of the paint off (was washed off before it could do any further acidic damage) and was about $500 for a 4 inch blemish. The harsh reality is that any paint work is brutal. Mine was bad because it was on the A-pillar so it had to be blended but no parts needed replacing (except weather stripping).

if it was on the apillar it should not have been that much, they would have to sand down and start from primer either in about a 3 foot section or the whole a-pillar assembly but jeez, i dont know, all I can say is labor kills. I do my own work most of the time, my dad repainted his 83 jag cause he has a buddy that works for dupont and does cars so he let him borrow the sprayer and other equipment, i think you can rent it too.

still, i dont know, since they will have to do the entire fender, to avoid more blending work, i would say 500 should be the highest.

also to let you know, hookups are the shiz, i had bad damage on my 85 jag xj6 from a damn tree attacking me(i swear it made the first move) had my subframe stretched and realigned/straightened, all body damage smoother, driver sideskirt-door-apiller-fender painted back to stock gold for under a grand.

thats BS. a rip off.
i hit a guardrail passenger side, needed new pass headlight, front bumper, windshield resiviour, had to reshape qtr panels all paint labor $1300.

thats another thing if the body shop has to source the point it gets a little more expensive, but dont let em bend you over for it cause it isnt that big of a hassel.

Plus if you plan on future work you may ask them to buy quantity and keep it on hand for your other projects.

if they do that sort of thing.
