6.4 Earthquake

Damn, them earthquakes sucked! Thankfully everyone is okay on all islands, just picking up pieces. Not everyone has full power yet on Oahu nor internet connection. This rain is not helping out either. We're under flash flood warning. Hopefully we'll all bounce back in no time. Peace!

6.6!

weird though didn't seem that bad at all. until the power went out, and didn't come back on.

Yeah, it was upgraded later to 6.7 for the first one and 6.0 for the second one. The stats keep changing. That's getting annoying!

HAHa get free trip to big island to help clean up but my plt sgt said i cant go cuz school. Another reason why school sucks

Yeah from what I heard it was 6.6..... That was at the epicenter though. I would say most of us felt somewhere in the 5's here on Oahu. Just my guess cause what I felt at home was not that bad. Plus we were 100+ miles away from the epicenter seperated by water. The power being off for almost a full 24 hours is what sucked (for us anyways). Damn HECO!!!

They called on Sunday but I was riding dirt bike and didn't get the message till that evening. On Monday I was on the Pali because the traffic lights were still out till about noon.

Well, I rather HECO do what they had to do. I understand what they mean by over loading. If we all turn on our stuff at one time, full blast (and I know all of you pratically will), you'll end up over loading the circuits causing rolling black outs and even worse, a longer black out which could last for weeks. Oahu has a lot of people to power up vs the other islands. Anyway, that's just what I think was the problem; yes it sucked, but it was a good time to do things we normally should be doing instead of surfing the net, watching tv, playing video games, etc. Peace out!

Did you hear the news yesterday? A buddy of mine said that HECO admitted to shutting off the power on purpose!!! There was no need to shut it off and no safety feature that would shut down the generators. They are full of s***! What we need is more electric companies so that these a$$holes don't have a monopoly on us and can do whatever they want to do. But then again this is just what I heard from a friend of mine..... LOL! (Rant over)

Living on an island... the joys of companies. They have us in their grasp.

damn i knew they turned it off on purpose. no sense in turning it off. haha they would have felt dumb if a riot started and people were looting cuz no more power.

so power was out for 24 hours.. that's not bad at all. There was a freak snow storm last Friday in Buffalo NY and my roommate's parents there won't have power for at least another week. lol

i was driving down haleakala when the earthquake happend i thought something was wrong with tires or suspension when my p5 started shaking. also power at Maui was only out for 2 hrs.=).

Breathe in, breathe out. I was fully aware of two plants being purposely shut down and the other shut down on it's own. Those plants included Kaena (sp?) Point, Down Town (by Aloha Tower), and Pearl City. Again, I rather they have done that instead of us suffering w/ rolling black outs or a complete black out for weeks at a time like Kansei mentioned. Thank goodness Oahu does not snow (just hail). Peace.
