505 Intake Manifold COMPLETED!

If you cut the pipe right (I dont know if you even have to cut the turbolife but assuming you do) cut it where a 45 degree coupler will go on it. If you make the cut right if you wanted to go back to stock intake manifold all you would have to do it get a 90 coupler and then it would still work.

Not to threadjack, but on your TB you have a black cap on the short metal nipple that comes off it, my car just has it open. I always wondered what that was for and what it did, does it matter if that's uncapped or not? (vacuum leak, etc)

That's where the coolant lines pass through the TB. You can leave them open. I've had mine left open for 5 or 6 years now. It won't cause any problems.

will your sig. image be on the mani's that you ship out to everyone else or is it just your own personal mani that has it on.

All coated manifolds are getting the laser etched 505.

hey rich

is there a chance you'd be willing to sell a egr line kit separately?

I ordered one extra just in case something happened to one or whatever. If all goes to plan I will gladly sell it to you as soon as the rest of them come in. If I end up needing it, I will give you the info about where to purchase one yourself. Sound good?

Hey Rich, I don't really need the brass vac fittings. I use Parker Prestolok fittings (rated up to 25 bar :p) for all my vac connections, with polypropylene lines. But if you want to send them anyways, cool. Just saying I won't need them at all to save you the trouble.

Awesome... those fittings are dope. I'm going with some of those chromies I used on my old MAM vac block... lol. Do you want me to send you a list of the needed sizes? Also, did you get my last PM? Never heard back.

I had that cap laying around so I threw it on there, no vac leaks or anything from having it open though.

Uh, Professor did you say that I'm going to have to have to cut my COLD pipe to get it to fit on the throttle body? I really don't want to cut my Turbolife cold pipe, so if I do let me know so I can order an extra cold pipe somewere thanks.

Sorry that you missed it bud, I had mentioned that a few times in here but I know it has gotten really really long for anyone that hasn't been following it from the beginning. The TB absolutely HAD to move. Putting it in the stock location would have made the design of the new manifold impossible. Cutting off the 90* is really the only way we can run something like this (other than relocating the battery)... and as Keith just said, if you ever want to go back to the stock manifold or sell your IC kit, you can just throw a 90* coupler on the end and voila.

My setup used a 90* coupler on the end and all I had to do was swap to the 45*. (yes)

If you would like to build an entire new pipe shoot me a PM and I can help.

I was going to say, if you relocated the battery, you could just add a 90* coupler on the end and it would make a funny S-bend, but you could avoid cutting...

Sounds good. I'll take you up on help with the pipe cause I really don't want to cut the pipe just for resale sakes. But like clops said hopfully it'll fit without cutting. Will see. Pm you later. Thanks Rich

leaving them open with out any coolant should afect your idle air control valve. cuase thier is no coolant to tell it that the car is warming up. to adjust the idle

One of the first mods people do with these cars was to coolant by-pass. Never heard of it effecting the idle. I've had it by-passed for 4 years, no change in idle. Only time I had any idle issues was when going to the 626 IM.

There's no sensor in the TB for the IAC, or vise versa. I never had a problem with it in over 5 yrs, and my car warmed up just as it always did, even when it's -30c out. The only reason it was added was to help prevent the TB butterfly from sticking in the winter, and even that has proven to be useless.

Crazy cakers is right the the lines are there to keep the throttle from freezeing

Holy Crap RIch.
GHet these done ALready.

that works, appreciate it!

Any Updates Guys ? Im starting to loose my mind about these IMs......

lol. This is the world record for a group buy turn around time. It probably will make the protege so00o much faster though. Wanna hear the sound of the engine with it myself.

Let me know when somebody wants to sell theirs in the future.(birthday)

Couldn't Rich make a video so we could hear it? And how about that dyno?
