i guess I understand... its not tubular, so by most impressions (I make no claims about actuality) its not much of an upgrade from stock, other than being prettier and more durable... (EDIT: compared to stock)

I personally think that the Steedspeed many doesnt look very good but the gains are there, it made more hp than the thunder manifold, but if it were up to me id love to have a MAM tubular manifold IMHO they are the best looking manifold ever made for the msp. /END THREAD JACK

Hey guys. Kelly needed me to drop off the rest of the components yesterday, so we are definitely progressing. I'll talk to him after this weekend and see where we're at.

I also finally found my camera cable a couple of days ago and realized that I had snapped a few pics last Saturday.

Getting set up for the engine side injector dishes:

Here I am pressing out the runners:

I use a male die on the far side and press it in by hand, while mashing a female form around the outside with the arbor press. The round die on the other side of the pipe keeps it from bending at all, so it can fit perfectly in the countersink on the bottom of the plenum floor. Finished product is a set of 4 uniformly bent pipes that all match up perfect. :)

woot. rich, what would i need to do to get in on this?

Sorry man I missed this post. A couple spots have opened up and the list in the GB thread is current. Link is in the first post in this thread.

thats what i was thinking...at first i was going to get this as i was going turbo...in the time this thread has been going, i have bought and sold two turbo kits...good thing i didnt send a deposit for this thing

Perfection takes time, when he started it he wanted something very different than what is coming out. Enough peopole showed interest that he decided to modify it for a few stock needs. Those modifications is what has made it go long along with companies that bailed on him during the build.

i havent really followed the build, so i cant really comment on the reasons...the point i was making is that i had changed my plans in the almost 1.5 years this has been going on and i bet many others in the original GB have as well.

this is why some sites won't allow a bulk buy unless the products are in someones hands ready to ship before they sell, fortuanitly thi sitem will be soon. I am still waiting on a dyno.

505zoom, don't you have it installed on your car? why don't you go to a dyno?

He can, but hes running the GT28rs with a bunch of other stuff which would be pointless for the guys that are looking to see how much power the intake mani makes by itself on the stock turbo.

yes, i know it takes time and an amazing amount of skill to pull off a project like this, i was just thinking that aftermarket parts are made and ready for consumers before a car even becomes available to the public a lot of times.
This thread has been dragging on for a long time with no much to show in 1.5years
I know some of you are gonna get pissy, and go right ahead, its just a observation and opinion of mine though.

a Gain is a Gain, the intake is a bottle neck weather or not you have a stock turbo or a GT28rs.

I mean does he plan to only sell this manifold to guys running a stock turbo??

its true he may see more or less of a gain with his mods, but what about the guys who are running the GT28rs and or similar mods? Multiple dyno runs on different setups, proves a product, and would gain a broader market. a simple dyno run could put peoples minds at ease, and may move the people who are sitting on the fence.

its just good marketing and 505zoom would know his own HP/TQ

And?... your point? The thread was started way before the DESIGN WAS EVEN DONE!

I am still here providing updates... I am still here answering PM's. That is much more than can be said for some other people who sell parts on here, with their own vendor forum, (that will otherwise remain nameless). I have stuck through it under scrutiny from cowardice *$$holes, who rudely blasted me behind my back to their cronies, claiming incorrectly that this part is not even built in my state.

Maybe you missed it, but I am not a company. I am just a random dude trying to get a part built that wouldn't have ever been made for this car. I am doing it for far less than a lot of higher volume cars. If the part does not interest you, or you don't like how long things have taken, simply click the back button, and kindly bugger off. Everyone on the GB list has been more than cool throughout the whole process. Yet once again, leave it to the m247 peanut gallery, watching from the sidelines, with no stake or REAL interest in the project whatsoever, to sour things unnecessarily.

Thank you. I can't tell you how much better it makes me feel to read a post from someone who actually pays attention and knows what's going on.

- NEWSFLASH - Deposits didn't start rolling in til almost november 08. That is NOT a year and a half that people have been waiting. In addition to that, people who have had things come up have all been taken care of... smoothly, without hassle, and all behind the scenes without causing any drama.

No working EMS on my car... stock motor. To see the real gains of this part I'd like to see the results come from a car with a good EMS and forged rods. If the current guy falls through though, I am the only one left in line as a last resort. Might have to slap together an injector setup and get the MPI back up and running, and just pray that my motor holds.

The numbers will get done someway somehow... I've just had some real bad luck with that part of this project, and it has set us all back quite a bit in the process. For that I do apologize.

this kind of treatment is why problems arose with cobb.... lets not repeat that...

Though I cannot afford (and honestly don't have a need for) this manifold, I think despite it taking as long as it has, it is absolutely awesome that this is being developed. You have to understand with a project like this that it takes investment, and with a community like this, hopefully the producer can get help in offsetting that cost (deposits), as long as the community understands and agrees with what is happening all will turn out just fine! its too bad people have to bring negativity into this when there is really no need.

^^^^ agreed. I have no real stake in this but it's people who don't have any single reason to flame someone who is trying to put out a quality product for the mazda community. In comparison to some other cars, our proteges really don't have that much aftermarket support when it comes to the performance side so when someone goes to make a quality product like this and wants to make sure to do it right, people who don't even plan on or have money to buy the product flame the vendor. Kudos to you 505 and keep on truckin.

Iv always liked this product, and i really want to get involved in the Second GB... when money problems come around. Keep up the good work. With the time you have put into this im sure its going to be worth the wait.

I'm really quite amazed he even attempted this, given when it started it was a 4 year old (and older) platform.. a risk you really have to admire him taking if you ask me.

Well Mr. I do everything my self, if you don't like this product or don't have the MONEY or time for it you should make them your self in a week and start selling them like cakes or simply pay and wait what ever it takes, Rich ain't a company he's just a regular guy that is helping alot of people in this community to have one of a kind performance item that nobody else or company is going to fab for us, Bringing your negativity here ain't going to help and comments like this is better to keep it for your self, I really don't care if you get mad about my opinion of what you said but people like you don't deserve not even to be able to see and comment in this type of threads.. now let your BS begin, I rather to PAY somebody else to do the job right from the first time like you said this is just an observation and opinion of mine..

Rich Keep the good stuff coming bro. You have my respect in here and you know it, thanks a ton for everything you are doing to this community, The good stuff takes time to get it done right, don't matter if you take 2 days, 2 months, 2 years i know for a fact that at the end like everything i have waited and done so far has been well worth the money and waiting time. Keep us posted Thank you once again !!!

who gives a s*** how long it takes??? i haven't put any money into this, but i would like to.. just need a job.. but if you want something thrown together, throw me 600.00 and i'll throw something together... and it won't be beautiful, and it won't do much. he's been planning and testing this s***.. if you don't have a stake, and never will. keep your opinion to yourself.
