Yeah I went to Midas just curious what they would charge for a spring install. 408 $ was what they quoted me. I about shat my pants. I'll end up doing it myself sometime down the road lol.

Haha same experience here, I heard recently Bell tire wanted about $480 with an alignment and Midas $350. Ridiculous, couple members and me did mine in less than 90min on a lift.

do it yourself, you can real easy with simple hand tools and some know-how. There's a great how to for cobb springs that I referred to when doing my coilovers

Yeah, that's not a bad price for a spring install. Granted most people can do it themselves, and I certainly wouldn't let Midas touch my car, but I don't think that's unreasonable.

i checked with a local auto shop around me just for s**** and giggles and they quoted me at $980 just for the springs and alignment. i said you realize the springs themselves only cost $200 right?

My wife and I just installed MS3 springs on our Mazda5 last night.

Took us a few hours... like just over 4... but we were newbs. If I were against the clock, I could probably do it in less than 3 - floor jacks & all.

I love how people complain about prices they get quoted from shops for the installation of aftermarket parts. What you should ask when you go to these places is how much is you hourly labor rate and is the total book time to get a job done since most reputable shops go by a standardized book time of labor times to get a certain job done usually All Data is what gets used by most places. What you are paying for is the book time not the actual time it takes the tech to get the job done the job my pay 3hours for example on the books and only take an experienced tech an hour and half or less to get the job done however you are still paying the book time regardless of how long it actually takes to get the job done. If you go to a shop and their labor rate is really high then go someplace else because you are going to get killed in the labor cost regardless of the intial cost of the parts themselves. So in reveiw find out labor rates of the shop you are going to and total book labor time for the job not the actual time it will take to get done because that does not matter shops make their money on the difference between the book time and actual time......

I have taught my wife... and she has taught me...(enguard)

Usually, I work on one side, she watches. Then we swap. She will not let me leave her side, but she's willing to perform the work after watching me the first time.

Trust. It can go a long way. She is a wicked cool woman... (2thumbs).

I am a teacher by trade, so I want her to learn about cars... and now that she has a new car to modify, she's all ears!

(Dirty talk in the garage??...(sssh))

Can your wife and my wife hang out so hopefully your will rub off on mine??
*no sexual pun intended

In addition, $550 for new springs & installation? Or $~100 for springs and we do the install...

The way I learned math - I just saved nearly $500 bucks!
So I can spend $500 bucks on other mods right?(laugh)
