I am curious as to if people think I am put together a turbo set up for 4000 including install I have some hookups but I am jst curious as to what people think as to the realisticness (like that word) of this idea, thanx for anyones input

If you do it yourself, I think it can be done for $4000 cdn. You can buy some parts from Spoolin and for Extreme Machine and get a package for $4000.

Here's roughly what it can cost in Canadian money for all the hardware you need:

-Turbo, between $800 and $1200
-Intercooler $600
-Downpipe $300
-Manifold $500
-Filter $50
-Piping and hoses and fittings $400
-BOV $100
-Extra injectors kit $800
-Clutch between $350 - $650
-Exhaust 2 1/2" or 3" $400
-Muffler $250

As you can see, if you go for a simple setup without the exhaust and a not to expensive turbo and intercooler, you can do it under $4000. But if you go for a better quality and complete job, it's over $4000.

If you are looking for a bolt on kit installed on your car, $4000 cdn is realy short. A more realistic price to get the job done is between $5000 and $7000 canadian depending on the setup you want and on which parts (turbo, BOV, managment system, etc...) you want.

Mine done by Extreme Machine cost around $5500 and there another MP3 in Montreal made by Advance EFI who cost around $6500 including the clutch modification.

You can get a seriously bad ass turbo setup for $4000 CDN. Mine is about $3000 USD and I've got extras like the NX N-tercooler spray kit, and the J&S safeguard, dual stage boost controler too, so I can run low boost for daily driving to save fuel, then switch it to high boost with the flip of a switch. It will take a little longer to gather the parts, but with the money you save by putting together your own kit it is worth it. But if you are impatient, don't do it, it has taken me since April to get all my parts together. I'm getting my down pipe made on Wednesday, then all that's left to do is install everything and I'm boosted!

I don't agree with you on that Big_Ben. The exchange rate is realy high between US and Canadian money.

As an exemple, the ACT clutch kit is listed at $416 US. It cost $700 cdn here (with taxes). You can almost figure twice the US price for parts here. There's the exchange rate, the Custom fee and depending on which province you are there 1 or 2 taxes to pay. Here in Quebec we got 2 taxes. It's 15% of taxes to pay on every parts you buy.

That's why I think you can get a setup for $4000 cdn but not a bad ass one!

"Realisticness"? You may like it, but it isn't a word. Try "efficacy". :D

I thought the rate didn't matter that much. Lke if you live in Mexico, you make next to no money but everything is dirt cheap. Is it not the same case in Canada? I just figured you guys made a little more money to make up for it.

No, we don't make a little more than you guys to make up for our low dollar, but the stuff here costs a lot less than the US.

And recently, the US dollar has been dropping quite drastically against the Canadian $, not to mention the Euro.

A few months back, when the Canadian $ wasat around 63cents US, that $3000US turbo would've cost $4800CDN (approx), but now it's only about $4500 CDN ($1C=$0.65US), so, $4000CDN isn't that far away from a good turbo set up.

That's because our economy is s*** right now. Hopefully it will pick up in the beginning of the new year. My raise isn't going to be crap because of it.
