$400 title transfer fee?

Why is it when you go to mazdausa.com and build an 08 MS3 it doesnt have white listed as one of the colors?

Thats when you say "Well, this is a free country and the salesperson is more than welcome to get a hourly or salery job," then start to walk out. I have a few second hand (as in friends said they did it) that it works ok. It depends on the person though. With dealers, its not one size fits all, you have to figure out their personality and work with it.

they wanted to charge you 200 dollars for white. The ca rwill come in that color.

When I was buying my first Mazda3 about two years ago, an Electric Blue GT hatch, we had to pay a paint tax ($105) on the car because of the metallic flake. If I'd gone for white, it would have been taxed ($200) because of some of the chemicals used for the pearl paint. Maybe that's the price difference?

Bingo! $200 is price increase for the white pearl paint apparently.

BTW, $400 is about right for title and license. For the first 5 years (IIRC) MN bases their fees on the value of the car. Then, after that it's a flat $75 or so.

So, if previous cars you've owned have been older $400 would seem high.

Also, as far as sales tax around the metro area it varies by county and city. St. Paul is like 6.65%, MPLS and Hennepin County 7%, statewide is 6.5%. So depending on the dealership you choose you can pay less/more sales tax.

look at any mazda in crystal white pearl. there is a $200 pearl paint charge.

Well yesterday I was looking at the Walser website and saw an 07 red one for 20,435. So I call the guy up and ask about it and tell him that I am planning to cut him a check and come down so I ask how much more will get added on and he tells me that it will be taxes and the 400 dollar fee but he says he will call me back and tell me the exact amount. So he calls back and gives me an even lower price of 19,939 and after fees the OTD price comes to 21,600. So I went in and bought it! I figure at a price like that I can deal with not getting a white one. Done deal got me a new ms3!!!!!(birthday)

COngrats... 21600 OTD for a new MS3 is a nice price indeed (damn CA Sales tax ensures Ill never see prices that low OTD) - just dont tell us it was for a GT or Im calling BS

BTW: Nice color but it AINT the fastest color !!!

It is a sport. Sales tax was 6.5%. They lost around 1500 off invoice. I am very happy that I got that price.

What state are you in? Im surprised dealer took a 1500 hit off invoice for an MS3 - either they arent selling in your neck of the woods or dealer needed to get rid of it to make their volume numbers...either way a + for you...

I am up in MN. Most of the other dealers were not even willing to go under MSRP. One other dealer quoted me 500 over invoice. Because the one I got was an 07 they said that is why it was so cheap.

Nice work! They had one 07 True Red when I bought mine in early Sept. but I wanted Silver so I had to get an 08. I bet that's the same one, so since they've had it awhile they moved on the price. Congrats that's a smokin' deal.
