ok this is what is happening 3rd gear likes to grind over 4500 rpms. but sometimes it will sometimes it wont. its like a gamble will it do it this time or not
at fist i thought i just wasint pushing the clutch pedal down but tonight i diss proved that i had the clutch fully depressed wated a sec or two shifted and shur as s*** CRRRRR there it was
any one els with this problem

A few questions:
a) How many miles on your car?
b) Any shifter mods?
c) Are you sure you are shifting correctly (3rd on our car can be a pain, and it helps to just use the palm of your hand to ease it into 3rd)?

i got 6,400 miles no mods and it doseint matter if i slam 3rd or feather it in sometimes it will or sometimes it wont
and yes im shur its not a click sound its def grinding

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was just me thinking I screwed something up. I also thought all the stock shifter and bushings sucked ass. I'm just going to get all aftermarket stuff to see if that helps.

I'm still having occasional issues. Have the TWM shift-mount aluminum bushings and just went to the 80durometer rear motor mount. I can only guess I'm trying to release the clutch too soon or pushing down and forward instead of up and forward (palm of hand).

I've never had any shifting problems with mine. Bought in November 07.

3rd was really upsetting me because I knew that it wasn't anything that I was doing to make it grind. I put in the TRZ mm and all my problems went away. I never grind 3rd anymore under any condition. I also have the bushings and i removed the counter weight to see how much I could improve it. Bushings are great, and no counter weight has this effortless feel to shifting.

3rd gear grinding while going fast = ur running stock rear motor mount, get upgraded mount and that dissapears along with wheel hop. I did it alot of times in my car and then i bought TRZ delrin motor mount which i believe is the best for performance.

My car did this ill tell you whats wrong with it i took it to mazda and my 3rd gear syncro was shot so they replaced my tranny for free and i had the rear mm and shifter bushing its your syncro man trust me!! I though if i bought all that stuff it would stop it and it never did take it too mazda and get your tranny repalced!!!

My tranny was replaced as well at 21k miles due to 4th gear grinding. I think at around 59k I'm trading this b**** in.. lol

well i went to the dealer today the tech took it out
they told me that he made an adjustment to the linkage but thats bull i didint see my car in the bay at all if it happen agen im going back and tearing them a new ass hole

Barring something being mechanically wrong, simply make sure that you have fully engaged the clutch, and take some time to let the synchros fully engage before you ram the shifter into place.

You can probably also improve the 2 to 3 shift with a better rear engine mount. You're shifting high in the RPM, I gather you're hammering on it a bit, and this torques the motor pretty hard. Especially when you clutch in and the engine rocks forward on its mounts on its mounts.

A lot of people b**** about the transmission and the bad 2-3 shift, but in most cases if everyone would just slow the hell down instead of trying to 2-fast-2-furious through the gears, things work pretty well. I'm stock and I don't have problems with my shifting when I take my time. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, guys.

This is so true. I did replace a transmission my other car thinking it was a synchro problem when it turned out to be the slave cylinder dying out.

I haven't had any problems with shifting in this car. The gearbox is pretty sloppy tho.

i here what you are saying and yes at first i thout it was my shity shifting
but no when i bring it up over 4500 rpm it would grind evan if i granny shifted it
well i got some driving to do tommarow and im gonna test the s*** out of it so well see then
