3rd gear is grin-diiing!

Well, I jumped in the car tonight to go to work. Well, everytime I went into 3rd gear, I would get this grinding sound when I let off the clutch. It was constant as long as I was in 3rd. The gear still worked, but I had this constant grinding sound. :wtf: I'm just waiting for the s*** to grenade now. I just want to ask if you see any MSP transmissions for sale anywhere, or have any tips let me know. Just when I finally have some tuning.

Seems kinda weird that it's 3rd gear you're having problems with... I always thought most of the problems were with 1st and 2nd. (boom07)

No actually a couple people have had problems with 3rd gear (like Elemental)...

Before someone comes on here and acts like a jack-ass I will let you know right now, I always shift slow. I just let it fall into gear. No slamming!

pm y0sky - he bought the msp motor from hawaii and the guy still has the trans complete with LSD i believe.

weird.... I had this problem... grinding every time I went into 3rd.... Mazda even replaced a (supposedly) worn out shift fork... but the problem persisted... UNTIL.. Linux and Elemental suggested the Redline Superlight Shockproof gear oil for the tranny.. I haven't had a problem since... but I already know you have this Patrick... so I am stumped.

Well, there is no grinding when I shift...it starts as soon as I put it into gear, and release the clutch and continues until I go to another gear. I checked my fluid, and it peed out on my face..so it's full. I do have over 108,000 mi on my car now, so I wonder...

108K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy s*** dude....

your tranny probably just gave up after the turbo abuse and 100000 miles

Abuse? Naw, I always shift gentally...even when racing. But shear work, probably!

its a manual, low miles, im thinking i will just part it out, or fix it and resell. it all depends on how much interest there are for the parts. i only paid 2000 and 500 to ship, so im not really looking to charge a ton for the parts...its just going to be hell to remove. but if you want it, itll be for sale shortly.

Guess its time for LSD eh? you always have the worst car luck, but we all know you will make it through. And after this how much of your car will be the same as it was when you bought it? You could have prob built your own car with as many things as you have switched out.
