3 days to install new turbo?

My service adviser said 1-2 days for the turbo to get installed and today is the second day and he says they will need 1 more day. Does it really take 3 days to install a new turbo into a ms3? I am pissed right now having no car to do anything on my day off!!

They had my car for almost 2 weeks to do the MM recall and they were suppose to see why my car uses so much oil.

it does take some time to get it right. I would say MINIMUM in reality is 6 hours. you have to remove the manifold and Downpipe which alone takes a decent amount of time. then you have to actually get the turbo out still which is a couple of brackets which require alot of crap to be moved. Also the oil and coolant lines.

also your car isnt the only one they work on all day! they do have other stuff to do. the people with appointments and stuff

+ its warranty right. warranty work pays one third or what normal work would cost!

and i would want the job done right. not half ass and missing bolts and leaking coolant and oil. this is just like the body shop i want it right now! not right!

you get one or the other people! lol just a thought .

i wish i could of got mine back form getting a motor in 3 days idd be glad! s*** its been gone for a week and still no motor till tuseday at the earlyest

i miss my car :'(

I hope you got a rental from them for your wait. Thats crazy for a mm recall. Did you find out why your car was using too much oil?

I did a turbo swap in a MS6 in less than 3 hours. It's not that big of a deal...

yeah it took my dealer 3 days to swap the turbo. s*** i didnt know they had to remove all that s*** to get to it

The job is relatively quick. The issue is reporting it to Mazda and getting a new turbo sent out. I just got mine replaced. It went in on a Tuesday and I got it back on a Thursday.

I would be ready to kill (burn)

Thats flat-out ridiculous and I would definitely be pissed off and have a few words to say to the service manager

This dealer needs to be reported to Mazda corporate. They don't like unhappy customers, especially among our crowd because we are vocal, which is great when we're happy, but bad when we aren't. Somebody from higher up the food chain will have something to say to them if you get the word out.
I had my car in on a Saturday and they did about half a dozen SA fixes plus the mount recall. There were a lot of small parts getting swapped out and I was in and out in about three hours, including my oil change. Don't get me started on the oil change. Nobody (and I mean nobody) has gotten it right yet, including the dealer. The parts guy sent out the wrong oil.
That was when I decided to hell with the inconvenience, I'm doing my own from now on.

dada, why was your turbo replaced? Dealer didn't have any issue with all your mods? Just curious. Tks.

Three days doesn't seem unreasonable. I'm sure the service department doesn't keep turbos lying around, so they do have to order the parts. Two weeks for the motor mount seems more excessive, but I think they had supply issues on that one...

If changing these turbos does not require pulling the engine out, then it's one step ahead of the Audi 2.7TT.

german parts & labor, twin turbos, replaced twice = lots of money, lots of headache. hopefully my MS3 will last a looooooong time.
