ok... i know alot of people have had this problem already.. i brought my car to mazda 2 have it checked out and they replaced the spongy in the clutch slave cylinder (some shyt like that)but still get that grinding noise from 2nd to 3rd( and im not being lazy with the clutch pedal either)...i dunno what i should do, im contemplating changing the clutch now and forget mazda warranty work.. anybody know if that would be a fix???? can anyone help?>

call ur mazda rep! complain, something will get done! if not keep calling. i do not have the problem, but sounds like the synchros are bad. i do recomend the tripoint flywheel and act clutch, it hits second so hard i broke the rear motor mount. it didn't break the rubber but it broke a weld,& made the casing egg shaped! it is a great set, but needs stronger mountings. take the mounts out and fill them with pollyurathane in the gaps and let dry, working so far, but it will have a bad wheel hop!

I thought pollyurathane mounts were supposed to help stop wheel hop?
BTW...I have that problem too with the crunch noise going into third, we need to all call and complain

i had the same problem before, i got my gear scyronisers replaced and now it works fine, al though it did take a few days to do so i would call and make an apointment immeditly so u can get a loaner car. also make sure u get a new allingment from them to. they have to take the whole front end apart to fix it. the told me that i got a new allingment after they fixed it. i saw the my car all ripped apart in the shop, it was a sad sight. they really had to take a lot of stuff off to get to the tranny i guess. also the first time they tryed replacing my fluid with synthetic and it didnt work so then they fixed the scyhcros. GOOD LUCK!!!

I have had similar issues when shifting around 5-6k rpm. I took it to the dealer and he said they "looked it up" and that is too high of a shift point. Then why do they give it a redline at 6500? Not that it is an indicator of where you're supposed to shift, but if you're not being lazy on the clutch you should be able to shift at 5500 without any grinding at all, right?

Carson... about that being to high of a shift point, they are trying to bulls*** you...I can shift like that around 4500 rpms and get a little grind.. many people say it has been the syncs in the tranny .. i think everyone has to call up mazda directly and complain.. i am going to soon i think the number is 1800 222 5500..

by the way mazdamastertech, since you broke your engine mount with the new clutch, if i plan on putting the clutch in soon should i just upgrade the mounts before i do? if so how much do you think that would run me???
