2nd Gear Notchiness

Have my MSP in the shop for them to check out the notchiness in 2nd gear and he swears that it feels just fine. No problems at all, whatsoever.

Is he smoking crack???

Change your gear oil to synthetic for an improvement. This has been discussed dozens of times in the past.

The drivetrain trio (Kartboy bushings, Bronzeoil bushings, Redline MT-90) has worked amazingly well for me. I'm waiting for the Perrin adjustable short shifter & then I think it will be perfect.

How about trying some Synchromesh instead of the Royal Purple? Most people have great results with GM Synchromesh.

get the kartboy shifter bushings www.kartboy.com they help out a lot, mine feels so much better now. The install is a breeze once you get that DAMN bolt off. I'm going to get new tranny fluid next week, so that should make it even better!

I have the Kartboy bushings, the Corksport bushings, and replaced my fluid with the Pennzoil Sychromesh and my shifting is near perfect. A definate 200-500% increase over standard. Can't really say one mod is better than the other as they all complement each other. Definitely the best $65 I've spent on the car.

don't know aobut you guys but i liked my stock rubber bushing feeling better then the kartboy. Kartboy made it hell of it more notchy.

No way that's $65...

Kartboy - $25
Bronzeoil - $35
Redline MT-90 (I know you used Syncromesh, but still) $8/quart x 3 quarts = $24

Total: $85 (came out to about $100 with shipping)

All I can say about all of these ?s about notchiness or whatever is that every single one of these mods made the shifter feel better & the end result is 500% better feel, just like Allen said. The shifter IS tighter, but it's also more precise & way smoother. All of the issues with 2nd gear & reverse are gone. Everyone's opinions are different, but you should just find someone with these installed & see how it feels. So far the drivetrain trio is my favorite mod. (thumb)

Sorry about that. I was thinking the Kartboy's were only $15. I didn't include shipping and the Synchromesh was only $4.99 at Autozone. Anyhow, I'd be willing to pay $100 for the setup. Made a really big difference in my car.

So, does everyone agree that the Red Line MT-90, GM Synchromesh, and Pennzoil Sychromesh are all good alternatives?

Has anybody heard that one is better than the other, or is it all opinion?

I've never hear of anyone using any of these three to complain. Don't quote me on this but I believe that the GM synchromesh is just the Pennzoil renamed. Again I'm not sure of that.
