2nd gear grinding

Does anyone know how to change the synchros? That sounds like an expensive repair?

I dont have a warranty, but I do have a second vehicle for down time or screw ups.

You have to remove and disassemble the transmission. It's not something Joe Blow on the block should try to tackle.

2nd gear synchro is out...take it to the dealer. Fought this fight with my Altima, make sure to drive it around the block when you pick it up before you head home...Nissan screwed mine up and had to do it over. Good luck!

That is exactly right on my Rx8 I was grinding into 2nd gear then a bolt broke inside my tranny so it just stoped running but when I took it in they said it was my synchro was going out so the replaced it and then about 6 months down the road it started to do it again. Also i have a hard time getting it to go into 6th and they said that is normal for Mazda Rx8's. I wish that wasn't true.
