2nd gear gone :( what to do ?

was hauling ass from 1st then dropped down to 2nd and it felt like it was just in neutral,now I can just put it in 2nd gear without the clutch and it just revs, before I felt like I had to push it farther then the others cause it would grind when bearly in 2nd and had to push it farther to get in 2nd. Any ideas what to do guys ?

Possible the selector is just worn out and it doesn't actually go into second. If your a pretty confident wrench hand ahouldnt be a big deal to fix it if the rest of the transis still ok. Is there any other grinding or ticking in other gears?
Cheapest option is probably just finding another transmission.
Fix this one and sell it depending how much downtime you can afford.

is there any other Trannys that would fit other then a protege5?

Any manual trabs from 2 liter protege se lx es and p5. Msp will work but speedo is different. Its abs on msp not a gear.
Other cars like fs mx6 and 626 with manual will work but ratios are different. Still a full transmision is gonna be cheaper even than oem secobd gearset. As for building your trans, don't waste your money and energy unless you have some plans for decent power. Mayve just don't ram it into gear. These trans need a gentle touch and definitely are not designed for very fast gear changes.
