its the evo vII man, trust me :). they don't say evo vIII on the show they just say evo, it was the evo vII becuz the evo vIII wasn't even made when they were started the project. evo VII was supposed to be released here july of last year but it never made it, so they released the evo VIII instead.

I'm not sure where I read this but I think it is an Evo VIII in the movie. The Evo VIII was release in Europe and Japan a bit before it made it the the U.S. and with the modifications they had to make to comply with the laws they also made some minor cosmetic modifications so the car you have now in the U.S. is in fact an Evo VIII.5 . IMO the one in the movie is a Euro-spec Evo VIII.

EDIT: All in all it was a very good movie if you ask me. I think that there is more of a story than the first one. Some unrealistic scenes but you know, it's a movie, not a real-life documentary...

You are probably right about the one in the movie but I'm sure I read that somewhere... I'll try to find it and post it.

yeah, i thought it was supposed to be the evo VIII too, when i first saw the movie was comming out we'd been hearing about it for a long time yanno. and i swore up and down it was VIII but i was talking ot the guy at the mitsu dealership and see they were supposed to recieve a shipment of the vII like july of 02 but they never got them. the evo 8 was in concept stages then, unless for the movie they were given a concept i hardly believe its a vIII.

Ok, got everything sorted out.

According to Import Racer! magazine the car in the movie is an Evo VII.

What I read is in fact that the Evo VIII is really an Evo VII.5 since that are not much changes.

Quote from Sport Compact Car (March 2003):

"Calling this car an EVO 8 is a bit of a stretch. It's really an EVO 7.5. Basically, Mitsubishi took the EVO VII, like the Euro-spec car we tested last July, and tweaked it to fit the U.S. market"

That's where I got mixed up. So the car in the movie is in fact an Euro-spec EVO VII.

I didn't think the movie was bad. I thought the worst part was at the begining when they were all lined up ready to race and Suki (worst actress ever) and all her girls were like all overexcited and totally in a gay "go girl" type of mode. What the hell was up with the "smack that ass" quote when jumping the bridge. Can't say I liked her at all.

I did like the Skyline. He came in doing NOS purges everywhere. Shootin 4 foot flames that was pretty cool. The flame was blue though so it wasn't gas shootin out the back.

How bout Eva Mendez, mmmm. I think I liked Mia and Michelle Rodriguiz better but Eva wasn't hard to look at.

Speakin of Michelle rodriguez, how bout the previews for SWAT. That looks pretty bad ass. You know when you can get Samual L Jackson and LL Cool J in the same movie you have a winner. LL's the man, he plays such small roles but he always kicks ass in them.

Peeped the movie yesterday. Much better than the 1st. This movie kinda sets up for the return of Vin Diesel in the 3rd installment (if it is in the works). The homage to American Muscle was great. Tyrese had a brotha rollin in my seat!

exactly what he said..

-and what's up with that suki girl? they coulda gotten a better chick than that to play her part. the director shoulda checked out our Hot Girl Thread maaaaaan!!!!!

I liked her just the way she was. Has nothing to do with her being Asian, just hot.;)

Never saw the first and not going to see the second. Go see "The Last Race". It's a short independent film. The closest thing to a "real" street racing move imo.

someone hands you a evo vII all decked out free of charge, just like the one in the movie. would you keep it? you better say yes cuz if not your a ******* retard.
besides that, what was rice about the cars? pls explain i thought they were presented very nicely yeah they went a lil overboard with the neon, who the **** cares, 10 years ago u'd suck your own left nut just to drive a car half as descent.

Hey Ryan,

Yes, I agree with you that I would take an EVO for free, even if it was riced out as it was. But would really drive around in an EVO that looked like that? ;)

Jay

I havent seen the second one, but the first one I own and have watched enough to pick out some bloopers.

ok first 1

In the opening scene with walker in the eclipse and he makes his run...count how many times he shifts...not just look, but listen! He shifts one to many times....

Second

The first drag scene...look at the color of the lines...the one they start at....than look at the color of the finish line....ITS THE SAME LINE!

Yea something else that bugged me........the floor board popping off:wtf: :bs: . When I seen that I was like :wtf: how in da hell does punching nitrious do that one...it like blew off the floor...the rivets and s*** went flyig...that was a pretty gay scene.

EDIT: In the second one that is an EVO VII. Yes walker owns a sky liner, and mitsubishi loves him and is giving him I think 5 or 6 EVO VIII's. I watched him on Jay Leno and they got on the subject. He is starting a race team with the VIII's.

yes i would, id drive it around just like it was in the movie, dayum straight i dont think anything about that car was rice, do you realize how much they put into that car?

anyways whatever to each there own, now if i was given it i'd prolly change the graphics cuz i wouldn't want the "oh look at that poser" when they didn't realize that its the exact vehicle.

that movie was better then the first, that skyline is fucken nutz!!! now how do we make our blow off valves do that???? it was pretty badd asss in my opinion

I hear ya Ryan, and realize how much they put in into the vehicle. But for that amount of money, I would have done less with better quality parts. Function over flash :)

I haven't seen the second one yet. I thought the first one was all right, like it has been said...it's a movie. However, i just wish that they would have made it a little more realistic and not so much focus on all the non performance stuff. I mean, in the first one with that RX-7, who is going to have 2 15" subs with amps and think they are going to run anywhere close to 10 or 12 second quarters. All that stereo s*** and non functional, non performance stuff just adds weight. I think that some of them look cool, but it just bothers me because i have a bunch of idiot kids racing around my area thinking they have some hot ride when they just add altezzas and some subs.

I am in a car club at JMU and we had a car show and one kid had this fast and furious look a like eclipse and he had a gauge pod on his pillar, which is fine, but i took a closer look and the supposed psi gauge was a STICKER.
Then another kid had the air filter that is supposed to look like an intercooler.

I just wish more people were actually into understanding cars and making them faster instead of it being all show, but thats just me.
