So I have gone through and read as many posts as I could find about putting 225/45-17 on our stock RH wheels. As far as rubbing goes it seems to me that only Falkens seem to be a problem. Our stock wheel/tire are supposed to be 24.6" overall diameter. I have narrowed it down to four choices I believe.

1. BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 - Overall Diameter 25.0"
(noise really a problem?)
2. Eagle F1 GS-D3 - Overall Diameter 24.9"
(seem to be best all around)
3. Avon Tech M500 - Overall Diameter 24.9"
(anyone heard/used these before?)
4. Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 - Overall Diameter 24.9"
(stepdad has these on his S2000, good tire for price...)

I just want opinions on those specific tires and if anyone has had rubbing problems with these tires. As well as anyones input on having a larger diameter and the effects on acceleration. I understand that a larger diameter of wheel/tire slows acceleration but a .3" or .4" increase isn't much is it?

I have been researching this a alot lately and the 225's are for a 7.5" rim and ours are 7" rims so I would stick with a 215 maybe go 215/40/ZR17. I wish we could get the 215/35/ZR17, but I think you can only get that size outside of the US, not sure. And if I did have 7.5" rims then I would use 225/35/ZR17 you can get those in a lot of different brands and they are pretty well priced. I found some for $82. I have a bunch of spec's and info on all of this stuff I will post more tomorrow, if you would like... I even have a tire calculator wich will show all of the differences going form your stock tire to a new size and it includes speed variants...

actually that is incorrect. 225/45-17 will fit on a 7in rim. that is the smallest width that these tires will fit on. you can check tirerack for the info if you like but all of the tires ive looked at will fit a 7in rim.

AHHH, your right I just looked. Oh man, that's what happens when you don't get enough sleep :(

Lets see you gain .7 of an inch in section width and you gain .2 of an inch in overall diameter and .3 on inch in tread width. Also while I was at tirerack they sell 215/35/ZR17's!!! That is the only place I have been able to find that size. Gotta love that site!!!

I still wish you could put 225/35/ZR17 on our rims, but we need 7.5 for that...
