205/45R16s and rim width

Okay, so after the winter I'll be looking to replace the stock tires on my P5. I've checked at the dealer and found that 205/45R16s do fit our stock rims and they sell tires for our cars in that size.

I will however, buy outside for a better price...

But one thing concerned me...looking at the specs of the 205/45R16 tires (of any make) it seems that their rim width range is 6.5"-7.5" with 7.0" being the optimal fitment. Considering our wheel is 6" in width, is there any down side to getting a tire in this size, since our wheel is out of range?

Thanks in advance!
:D

the only thing that i might see as a problem. is the tire will flair outand on the inside of the rimm the tire might hit the strut or spring perch

Well, I am not worried about the tire hitting the spring perch or strut cause people can fit 215s under our wheel well...

I guess my concern is how well the tire will hold on the rim under turns!

Oh yeah if the sidewall bulges on the side, how will that affect my handling?

Thanks for the reply...

I just checked the Falken website and checked out the specs on the tire you suggested, but like I mentioned they're for 7.0" - 8.0" rim width. So I guess you're telling me it wouldn't matter on our 6.0" width rims?

Sorry, if its repetitive I just wanna get it right!:D

they fit just fine....it's certainly not optimal having them on 6" wide rims, but they work just fine.... a user on here by the name of [cruzer] has them. they look just fine.

that'll be what i'm getting when my originals go slick
