2025 CX-5 heavier steering feel

Hi, I took possesion of a new 2025 Cx-5 this last week, Since its still winter, the wheels/tires from my 2022 were installed on the new one.
When leaving the lot, I instantly noticed that the steering is quite a bit heavier than the 2022. I also find that the wheel doesnt return to center quite as easily. As a result you must also center correctly out of turn because the wheel doesnt return completely straight. Has anything changed from 2022 ? I havent found anyone talking about it in a qucik search online.

Any opinions ? Vehicle does goes straight and tire pressures are ok.

Thank you.

My 2017, 2020, and 2023 were the same in that regard. It would seem strange that they would change that for the last year of the model.

Mine had/has no off-center steering issue. But weird vibration felt through the wheel (others have reported too) was much reduced by swapping out tires ($$).

What wheels did your 2022 have vs. your new 2025? changes in wheel size, weight, offset, etc. will affect steering feel and return to centre.

The wheels/tires from my 2022. Thats why Im curious why the steering feel changed that much.

I could detect no difference between my 2022 and 2025 Signatures, both of which displayed what I feel is the proper weighting and accuracy for the type and power of the vehicle.

No comparison between other CX5 vehicles. However, coming from a 2024 Toyota Rav4, the CX5 steering definitely feels heavier than the Rav4, Ford Fusion and Honda Pilot I have. The CX5 just doesn't turn in as easy in my opinion. I'm still 3 weeks new to my CX5, so perhaps its just a matter of getting used to the vehicle a bit more. But fresh comparison between the other vehicles I have, it doesn't feel as easy to steer.

It's not meant to be easy, but focused on feel and connection.

While I can't say these cars have heavy steering (heavier than your average car, but not as heavy as older BMW's for example) these are known for having good steering feel.

I'm not suggesting it is bad, but it doesn't hold a line as easy as other vehicles I own or have driven. It wants to go back to center, which has its advantages, but can also cause understeering through a corner which takes the car farther off line, swinging wide on exit.
