2025 CX-30 Turbo Engine Shutter coming off idle

Folks. First post so forgive me if I did it wrong. We have a month old 2025 Cx-30 Turbo here in Maryland. In stop and go traffic engine will perodically shutter off idle when throttle first applied. Feels similar to when engine re-engages in a car equipped with start - stop tech. As we know, this model in US doesn't have ISTOP. Anyone have this issue? Does Mazda have idle so low that engine hesitates a tick or two when load re-applied? Suggestions? Please and Thanks!

Not at all normal, on a vehicle this new I would take to dealer rather than attempt to troubleshoot the problem myself.

If you're hitting the gas really quickly after letting off the brake, you may be experiencing the quirk of the neutral idle control.

It is hard to 'feel' what you are describing without actually experiencing it. My 23 non-turbo had an annoying 'delay' when accelerating from a stop sign or red light. It was always there. I personally solved this issue in my car with a Pedal Commander. I didn't care about the changing of the response curve from pedal to throttle, which I got, but it eliminated the delay in throttle response when moving the pedal. This may certainly not be your issue, just what cured my issue. Good Luck, Tom

Thanks to the 3 of you. Happens in bumper to bumper so don't think it is an unusally fast pedal change (no where to go). Feels like the engine shutters a bit. Not quite a lug on a manual or a bib of the throttle but close. It had me seaching to confirm Turbo didn't have Cylinder Deactivation before making the post b/c feels like computer is messing with idle when you come off the brake. I will watch the tach next time and see if rpms change significantly but doubt it.

Video is Spot on! Folks don't seem to like start stop tech (especially - driving enthusiasts) Seems like Mazda did a work around and techincally the engine doesn't "stop" but the idle is so low to save fuel it needs a pluse to move again. Not a fan of NIC but my bad for not knowing about this before buying. Thanks for the information.

Are you SURE it doesn't have i-stop? This is from the CX-30 online manual:

What's happening is it is slipping the transmission to reduce drag on the engine, which promotes a more free idle and lower fuel consumption. It is the re-engagement of the clutches that you are feeling. @sinistriel@ could explain it better.
