2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

Finallly found something to really hate on. When you're in a pinch and need quick directions/navigation functionality, this system is absolutely HORRIBLE. It is cumbersome, and not user friendly at all. I've been satisfied with the system up until today when I was in major traffic and needed to find another route. Adding a destination is pretty much impossible unless I'm stopped. Why?? It'd be one thing if the voice recognition worked but that's worthless as well. This was just an extremely frustrating experience and I'm thankful I have google maps on my phone.

Seriously though, what do you guys do? Does everyone just come to a stop to enter a destination? I understand the safety behind it but it's just way too restrictive.

So you can't turn i-stop off by pushing that button?

When are we going to get i-stop and memory seat in the US???

Pushing the i-stop button does not turn the system off permanently, unfotunately it has to be repushed eachtime you start the car to disable it for that trip.

My Nexus 7 understands just about ever word i say, unlike both CX-5's i've had /got.
So it is possible.

Oh yeah, google voice recognition is top notch. That's why originally I wasn't going to buy another car unless it had android auto. However, I don't like the requirement of having to plug in your phone. But I still hope that Mazda implements android auto into their current fleet of cars.

I just hate that I can't enter a destination while driving. No difference than fiddling with all the other settings and audio options available. With their current restriction, imo, makes it even more unsafe because the user has to fiddle with the system that much more just to get a destination in there.

I got my CX-5 GT with tech for $2600 off MSRP. Had to ping quite a few dealers in Southern California to get them competitive.

I have a 2016 touring FWD with 6200 miles. I traded in a 4x4 Nissan on this car. I do like it but not totally in love and miss my truck. Things I don't like

1. MPG not as stated. Have yet to see even 31mpg on highway. City is 20-22 and combined 27. It's ok but was expecting
more. (I'm a very conservative driver and constantly watch current MPG IOT improve overall)
2. Cup holders are too small. It's not big enough to hold a large bottle like a 32oz hydro flask or a big camelback. Therefore it I have to keep it in the seat or it rolls around in the floor.
3. Keeping Drinks in the front cup holders inhibits use of the rotary dials for the radio etc.
4. Quality issues. A. Trim around touchscreen peeling (known problem). B. Gauge cluster is foggy on the inside and needs replacing (waiting on part from dealer). C. Multiple rattles throughout car. Not what I expected at only 6200 miles. D. Paint chipping on driver door. E. Hood vibrates. F. Screw came out of rear taillight and was rolling around behind panel (fixed by Mazda). G.
5. Black interior gets dirty quickly with two toddlers (didn't think through this during purchase)

I guess those are my major gripes for now. In hindsight I would have kept my truck or we would have just traded it on a minivan. Which is what we are purchasing next. We weren't pregnant with our third at the time of purchase and thought the Mazda would be good for us with just two kids. It does work but it's tight with two toddlers.

Use the bottle holders on the door

Something is definitely wrong. I easily get 30mpg highway with my awd cx5 and thats on hilly highways. Check your tire pressure.

Not necessary. Our AWD CX-5 can only get at most 28.5 MPG on highway driving. I watched the instant MPG and it very difficult to keep up at 30 MPG. Every engine is different even though they all come out from the same assembly line. Some people just happen to have less efficient engine unfortunately hence less gas mileage. Our 2.5L has been using some oil too which is disappointing.

What does your fuel economy monitor say after driving a trip on the highway? I don't trust the instant fuel economy. I mean it also tells me at times I'm getting 50mpg and we all know that's not possible.

I have owned my CX-5 for almost 4 weeks now and overall I think it is a great small SUV.

The one minor complaint I have is the 160 MPH speedometer. What is the point of putting a 160 MPH speedometer in a car with a maximum speed of 120? The annoying thing is that 1/4 of the speedometer is useless and the part that is used is overly crowded. If it was a 120 MPH speedometer there would have been enough room to put numbers every 10 MPH instead of every 20.

I know it is a very minor complaint, but the rest of the car seems to be very well engineered, so why use a poorly designed speedometer?

Kinda like having an amp that goes to 11! It looks more kick-ass! [/QUOTE]

Google uses 100s perhaps 1000s of machines for voice recognition, plus it saves your personal voice profile. On Android, your voice sample is sent to Google servers and back with results.
A single, under-powered machine with a small amount of storage can't do miracles.
