2016 Infotainment boot up time

Anybody figure out how to speed up the boot up time or eliminate that distracted driving message that comes up when you start the car? There's got to be a 30 second lag from the time you start the car until you can access the screens.

It's not too bad when you first start the car (since I sit at least 30 seconds while the car warms up) but if you're making lots of short distance runs with multiple stop/starts it gets annoying.

That's odd. Any delay in my 2013 CX-5 infotainment tops out at about 5 seconds. That is with a 32GB-64 GB (I forgot which) iPod attached via USB and loaded with MP3's.

I wonder if an attached device (or Bluetooth cell phone connection) is causing the delay?

nag screen is set for 3.5 seconds, there is a tweak to reduce that to .1 seconds

try it without attached devices, paired devices - or repair any devices - see if that makes a difference

I'm not quite following the logic, I'm not talking about any devices. The plain vanilla infortainment startup. You know when you first start your car, then the Mazda Icon appears then the "Distracted driving message appears". You can either press enter to that or wait about 3-5 seconds and it will disappear to be replaced with the icons for apps, music, nav, settings, etc.

From here you can select music (Musical note icon) and go into the radio app.

Getting through all this seems to take about 30 seconds, probably about 20 in actuality.

My original question was -- is there a way to eliminate some of this, especially the distracted driving message which either has to be acknowledged or you have to wait until it passes.

the nag screen i referenced is the disclaimer notice, then it should go right to the main screen
or you can use the console/commander and press radio, or nav, or use the steering wheel button to cycle through your radio favourites if you have them selected

the device(s) referenced was in case you had any devices connected, or usb drives inserted - a simple suggestion to try it without them if you did have them - basic trouble shooting step

Oh, I get it -- Nag as in wife. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, I know I can press the commander button and continue. It just seems to take forever. I guess I'm used to our Honda where I just turn on the radio and XM is there. Takes milliseconds. There must be a hack that can bypass the NAG screen.

yeah, there IS a tweak, mentioned above
along with tweaks for a few other things
there's a package of them you can download and then edit so you just do the ones you want

The entire topic is worth reading re: what a group of tweakers have done or tried to do
but the Tweaks Master Bundle is the one you want, includes an uninstall routine also to set things back to factory

the nagscreen/disclaimer tweak likely won't speed up other apps starting, but does reduce it to almost 0

might be worthwhile to make sure you're running V753 of the OS (latest), tho the tweaks will work with any version
note: updating OS requires reinstalling the tweaks, so better to do OS first

Yeah, even with the tweaks in place, the startup time is fairly long compared to other vehicles I've driven. Aside from the tweaks listed,and removing any USB, Bluetooth devices, I don't believe there is anything else that can be done to speed up the load time.

Just be glad you don't have to hit "accept" to the warning screen. My old elantra required me to do so and it was annoying as hell. It was a touchscreen only as well so each time I had to reach up the screen to accept. Got use to it but very annoying. The CX5s message will at least go away on its own after a few seconds.

Yeah, there are definitely "worse" systems out there. In general the newest crop of cars (MY15+) have similar systems to the CX-5, and most I've driven startup faster. I often rent cars for work instead of putting miles on my car, so I've been behind the wheel of a lot of newer cars.

I agree the start of time for the infotainment system is painfully slow compared to the 2013 CX-5 I traded in. If I'm just going to listen to music its not so bad because I can drive off while its still booting, but if I want to enter a new destination into the nav, it seems like a very long wait before that can be accomplished after vehicle start up. Hoping a future software update will speed it up
