EBrake light flashing

2016 CX-5 GT, 125K.

Ebrake functions fine, but I have a red flashing brake light and the orange ebrake light on the dash.

I replaced the battery a year ago with an Interstate from Costco

Any ideas as to why and how to correct?

Are you sure the ebrake is releasing the left and right sides equally? Are the disc pads ok?

They are releasing, but it feels like the right side is not engaging, or at least much less pressure than left side. I will go check now, I'm going to jack up my the receiver hitch to get both rear wheels off the ground and see what engages or not.

There's a metal bracket/tab that sticks down on the rear differential, that's the jack point

The right brake engages, the left does not. When I went to disengage the EPB the left just made noise for about 15 seconds. As I have it jacked up, the pads are pretty thin. I am going to replace them.

How to put EPB in service mode? And whats the trick to get the electrical clip off the EPB?

On my 2018 GT low brake fluid triggered similar warnings. You can check that as well while you replace the pads.

Service mode is very important when replacing the rear pads. Apparently pretty tricky considering how many people end screwing up the calipers when they fail to do the procedure properly.

The Pads had 7mm left inner and outer. When I put the car in service mode and take it out, the caliper that is not engaging the parking brake....it's motor ran for about 20 seconds. I think that actuator has failed internally and is not actuating the caliper.

You might need some new calipers. There were some service bulletins regarding problems with the rear calipers.

Thread 'Removing CX-5 brake maintenance mode'

I’ve just changed rear pads but am struggling to get the brake out of maintenance mode. (Hold accelerator and brake off whilst operating ignition 3x) It went in to the mode ok and backed off the EPB motor. What might hold off restoring this? Piston position? Internal mechanism? When it exits does it reapply the brake - I was expecting it to. Any help appreciated.

I’m having to take my 2016 CX5 back into the dealership for another flashing EPB and solid P on the dashboard. It was just there last week for the same thing. They replaced one rear brake Caliper and it was driving fine for two days. On start up today (it’s been pretty damn cold where I am) I got the same thing. What could they have missed that would allow me to drive it fine for a couple days but seize up again? They checked the actuator, bled the caliper of fluid, and replaced the caliper. I guess it’s possible the other one failed but I think odds are it’s something else. I want them to...

Hello, first time poster here. So for a number of weeks when driving my 2016 2.5L CX-5 Sport in reverse there was a bit of a high pitch squeal. It would go away when the car was in drive though. Yesterday, on start up my EPB was flashing yellow, and I had a solid yellow icon on the dashboard. I drove about 20 feet before I realized something was sticking so I got AAA to take it to the dealership. The technician said my brake caliper was seized and I need a new one. Is there anything else I should get replaced besides the caliper that could prevent a future one from seizing up? The brake...
