2016 CX-5 GT/Tech Silver
Newbie here. I've been searching for a while but unable to find what Canadians are paying for a 2016 GT with the Technology package. I may sign the papers this evening. My stealership deal is:
$0 down
84 months finance @2.49% bi-weekly
Payment $244.84 bi-weekly tax in. no extras like mats, cargo net etc.
Thats about $1600 off the org price.
I'm in Alberta. Insurance is $1145 year for 2 adults.

looking to see what others have paid.

Thanks

those payments based on approx just under 41000, so original $ was close to 42,500 or so?

also in calgary, We just purchased a white 2016 GS AWD w/ luxury package, and about 1600 in extras, took a while but got the dealership down to about the original msrp (which included blk htr, wheel locks, and usual ac,tires type fees)
half of the extras were Tech pkg type things that the Lux pgk didn't include - weren't interested in the other parts of Tech really

we started from the "dealer invoice" price via CarCost, and we were there 4 or 5 times
almost walked the last time, we were so tired of the haggling
so if you got about 1600 off, that's decent for Calgary in my limited experience ;)

just watch the OTD price remains close to what it started at - and be prepared for at least 3 or 4 people to ask you about the extended, extra coverages

Actually sales price is $39689 they are giving it to me for $38187. So $1500. I called another dealer not associated with the dealer i'm dealing with in the SE and they said it was a great deal and couldn't beat it, only match it.

We are trying to get the premium mats thrown in, front/rear and a cargo net.

Pisses me off about the $200 tire warranty with nitrogen. Trying to get that waived. I've already turned down the paint, leather guards and undercoating.

Here in Ontario, the dealer invoice is about $2700 less on a non-tech GT, which is what I paid.
I pinned my local dealership against two other ones and they sold me at this price.
Don't feel bad if they say they're "not making any money". There's a kickback that they get from Mazda (3%?) which is $1,200 on a 40k vehicle so tell them to live off that. They'll probably deny the kick back.. they always do.

Either way, you should be able to get more than $1600 otd.

LOL, they are giving you nothing, you're paying for it

FYI - Kramer, Stoney, and either North Hill or Sunridge are owned by the same family, and they own a partial share of the other

Good luck with getting extras thrown in - all they really do is reduce the msrp/invoice price really - so have your OTD price firmly in mind, let them juggle their numbers to meet it

we were told that Service/Parts are separate profit/cost centres, so Sales gets no deals from them
- grain of salt there i think :)

nitro - i'm so-so on the science behind that, but really the $200 is flat tire/ruptured tire insurance - we left it in as a final concession before the 'walk out the door' referenced earlier - sooo tired of the dealership games by then

premium mats are good, left them in, but weathertech pretty good too - and available 3rd party at approx $100 less, (ie here: http://www.weathertech.ca/en/mazda/2016/cx-5/floorliner-digitalfit/ )
or here for maxpider: http://www.partsengine.ca/p-54811-u-guard-3d-kagu-maxpider-floor-mat-in-black.aspx
not like we'll need them here soon (ok, get them for the july hailstorms!)
cargo net also available elsewhere, but that needs some hooks installed so we added it in

not sure about the kickback amount, we did that dance with them too - and passed the kleenex to the Sales Mgr while listening to how little they were making

we finally just went with the vehicle we wanted with the stuff we wanted, with a price we could live with

might want to look at AMI Glass Insurance (out of Edmonchuk) as you probably don't have full glass - $180 a year, $25 deductible for chips, $50 deductible for full windshield, even the $800+ cx-5 one with rain sensor, they use crystal glass locally for their work
check with your broker or contact them direct

We just walked away. They won't budge. I may wait til months end. Was hoping for a better interest rate. 2.49% isn't bad but .99% is better, but somewhere in the middle would be fine. I appreciate the info on the mats and especially the glass insurance. I had previously heard about the $800+ replacement cost for windshields for the cx-5.

When we were test-driving the Honda CRV they told us that the interest rate was 2.99% but would drop it to 2.49%. Was hoping for something similar from Mazda Canada. I'm still waiting, lol.

Maybe the GS with Lux package is the way to go. I may look into that as well. We are in no rush to buy a vehicle but once you become involved you kind of want to finish the deal. Hard to walk away. I haven't purchased a car in many years. Hate the experience actually.

The price's from CarCost Canada are they free? Or do you have to pay?
Thanks for all your info.

yeah, not sure if it's the 'all one owner' effect or the demand in calgary, but there does seem to be a point of see ya later on the dealer end of things.

month end is end of Q2, so they might be a little more inclined to move units, hard to tell as there weren't any additional mazda incentives this month

we were quoted 0% for 36 mth, 1.49% for 48 mth, 1.99% for 60 mth etc - so might be worth looking at shorter period
this site has a good calculator you can download and play with the numbers - we're going with bi-weekly and plan on doing some lump sum payments when we can to shorten the time and total interest
http://www.vertex42.com/Files/download2/themed.php?file=auto-loan-calculator.xlsx

like i said earlier, i was ready to walk right to the end, but the much better half really liked the vehicle and was long overdue for a new one
otherwise - car buying isn't a fave activity for me either

car cost is $40 for 10 reports, we found it helped to a point knowing the 'dealer invoice' price, a little info never hurts, the difference between the website build a car and dealer invoice was about $2000 on 31k for the GS
note: as soon as i clicked on the report, up popped a dealer name (closest by postal code) and they were sent an email - we got an email from the dealer about 10 minutes later saying let's talk ;

after the fact though - i have as little faith in the dealer invoice price as i do with the MSRP plastered on the window - they're just numbers from the seller side of things

Well same as you I caved. The better half liked it and we really needed another car. Long over due! I put $1000 down, got the mats and cargo net included in the bi-weekly price of $235 for the GT w/Tech, Silver. Even a used SUV of 1-3 yrs old cost $200+ bi-weekly. We also do lump sum payments. I like a cheaper payment over a longer timeframe anyway. Hopefully paid off in 4 years so they don't make too much interest off us.

The AMI Glass insurance you spoke of. If you utilize it does the premium go up? I was told to watch out for that.

"caved" sounds so unmanly LOL

congrats on the new vehicle !

not sure about the premiums vs claims aspect
your ins broker might have some info there or can contact them
i called directly and the office mgr guy seemed pretty straight forward, got the policy out pretty quick - but i didn't ask about claim history vs future premiums part

I am looking at getting a 2016 CX-5 GS. I live in Manitoba. I am hoping to get about $2500 off. I'm going to get the Grad Incentive $400, Mazda Loyalty $500, then I'm going to try and get the Cargo tray, mud flaps, and premimum floor liners thrown into the cost (total $675). Then I'm going to try and knock another $1000 off the price so that would bring the cost down from $37,677.02 to $35,777.00.

Does that sound like wishful thinking??

GS base or with Luxury package ?

I'd take out the incentives from your calculations - those are mazda not dealer (ie dealer receives them back from mazda)

we bought a 2016 GS/white ($200)/lux pgk ($1600)/freight ($1895)/roofrack-tray-premium mats-navcard-mirror-etc ($1650)
OTD total $35900, gst brought it to $37600

so depending on how the local market is - how many dealers etc - yeah, i think you have some room to negotiate more - the incentives alone should knock it down $900

so find a number you're good with for the model you want - either price wise or by adding more accessories (they'll tell you they make nothing on them, but there's + 30-40% on their side IMO)

suggest a read through this topic too - acouple good info links on negotiating, buyin
