2015 CX-9 Sport
Just bought a brand new 2015 sport. Not sure I want to keep the stock radio as I have an app radio 3. I know the older ones were replaceable with the PAC module. Is this the same story with the 2015? Just getting all the details so I know what I'm up against.

I would assume its the same, they haven't changed anything with the CX-9's radio since at least the Kodo redesign, and I think it's been the same even before that.

The one in the video here is a 2011-2012 based on the face (of the car, not the dude staring at you at the beginning, lol):

You could shoot an email to Crutchfield and see if they know if the PAC adapter works with the 15 and your AppRadio 3...

I've decided to just keep the factory unit as it's pretty nice and does most of what the AppRadio does minus the whole app integration and dvd video. I can just do an overhead dvd for the kids. I do want to install my amp and sub with the factory system but need to use a line out converter. I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere for 2014/2015. Do you happen to know which wires on the harness are the speakers and which wire is the 12v switched?

Radio is this one (non Bose)

Nevermind, got it figured out. Friend of mine is a Mazda tech and sent me pictures of the diagrams. I tapped into the front right speakers for the line output converter. They are the top two wires on the left side facing you. Yellow and yellow/black. Tapped into the cigarette lighter up front for switched 12v as the main harness is pretty cramped and was a pain to tap into easily.

@Thesuffering... If you could post that picture of the diagram up here, I'm sure a lot of people would be appreciative!! :) Also, what line out converter did you use? I know the all-in-one sub kits (like the Kicker Hideaway) come with a wiring harness, but it looks like it want's you to tap into both a left and right channel (speaker level input).

Also of note for others looking at this, the Bose system will have an external amp, which could change where you would want to tap... Shouldn't affect a line-out application though, as long as nothing wonky is coming out of the Bose HU (I would doubt it, since it looks identical to the Non-Bose HU...)

Thanks in advance for the diagram!! Also would love to see your setup when it's all in there...

Here are the diagrams. This is for the 2015 non Bose model. Can't speak for any other years as I don't know if anything changed.

Awesome^ Thanks!! I have the Bose system, which I think adds a couple more speakers, but one would hope they wouldn't move the existing connection wires for shared speakers, especially since the HU's are identical. Wish I could have gotten a GT without the Bose, but with the Nav and moonroof, then just put in my own (better) system. Damn packages.

How's the sub setup?

Currently I have a 10" sub in a small sealed box, mounted sideways against the little cubby on the left corner. Amp is in storage cubby underneath where factory Bose goes. Plan to try eventually to move the sub down there too, but haven't had a chance. Working too much overtime lately to have time to mess with that.
