2014 CX-5 Transmission Leak/Weep

Hi all,

I've got a 2014 CX-5 with ~103K miles on it.

About 2 years ago(~85K miles), I noticed a decent amount of gunk built up near the transmission on the plastic undertray. Was heading out for a road trip a few days later, so I dropped it off at a local transmission shop to have them take a look. Got it back, and they claimed that it was just the trans oil pan gasket leaking, so they dropped it and resealed with silicone. Didn't really buy it at the the time since the pan looked dry(all of the gunk was behind the pan), but didn't really have another choice at the time, so I went with it.

On both oil changes since then I've noticed that, unsurprisingly, it's still leaking. Looks like it's leaking right on the seam near the output shaft(but not from the shaft seal itself). I know it's an old enough car that minor leaks aren't uncommon, and it's not a particularly fast leak, but I'd still like to get this resolved if possible. Anyone else have a similar issue, or any idea how much effort it would be to resolve? Thanks!

The pic makes the bolt circled below appear to be raised/loose. However I also would expect you to immediately catch anything so obvious, so I'm guessing it must be an illusion created by the lighting. In any case, I suggest tugging on all of the bolts in the area of the leak - not with a lot of torque, just enough to find any loose ones.

Didn't actually check they were all tight while I was under there. I think it is an illusion in the pictures, none of bolts were obviously loose, but I suppose it's possible one backed out a touch.

Will give that a try, thanks!

What did you end up finding out about this? Just found the same leak on 2019.

Unfortunately, the car was totaled about 6 months after this post, and I never made any progress on finding the source of the leak in that time.

Definitely looks like an identical issue though.
