2014 CX-5 - reusing USB/AUX in armrest?

Splurged and got myself a Kenwood DMX809S for wireless android auto and all, installed it, works pretty well. Now I'm thinking about getting those extra inputs wired out just in case.
From what I saw, the USB/AUX plug in the center armrest has a proprietary connector to OEM headunit, so reusing that would be hard without some kind of adapter...I'm thinking about either getting a 3rd party plug that has the ports I need, or get a blank and make my own.

The question is: what's the name of the plastic part that's holding USB/AUX port? is there some sort of standard for that?

I reused the factory socket, and made my own adapter. See: Aftermarket head unit instead?
I saw that post - very nice mod. I don't think I'm quite there yet in terms of DIY capability, and then there's the HDMI cable that I'll have to bring out...hopefully without cutting any holes.

my question in OP is really asking if there's a standard size/name for that part in the 2nd picture in your post (one with USB M-M adapter plugged in)

This is the adapter you need. This one and ONLY this one will work. You'll still lose the headphone jack, but meh, who cares?

took me a while to get to this, and I'm afraid that the adaptor does NOT work for the plug in the center console to connect USB. Physically it doesn't even fit. However...the good ol' Metra/axxess one seems to fit:

That socket seems to be the correct shape. I'm getting a clone of that and will see if that works.

Doesn't fit? What car do you have?
2014 CX-5 GT AWD with Bose. However I may have the weird option package that doesn't have navigation or HID headlight. The top-tier package would have those 2. Not sure if it matters.

I did read in other threads that there may be a "bluetooth unit" somewhere behind glove box, will check if the metra adapter doesn't work.

Welp, the adapter "fits", but for the wrong cable... This is going to be a long one:

Apparently, my car's config has it so that there is wiring from the GPS slot (driver side, bottom-left of steering wheel) to the headunit, and that's what confused me in thinking that's what I need - to be fair, it is designed to be USB (that's how GPS and headunit communicate). I don't have GPS unit, so in its place there is a blank socket to hold the wire... the metra adapter fits this cable.

The TAUSB01B adapter would likely work if the armrest USB port goes directly to headunit, and afaik that only happens when there is no bluetooth/sirius unit under the glove box. When there is bluetooth/sirius unit, the USB/AUX connection becomes a 9-wire custom-looking affair (See RedBaron's posts) going from armrest to bluetooth unit, then bluetooth unit to headunit, on a separate connector, sharing some of the 16pin connector going into headunit... I haven't opened up glove box to confirm, but I'm almost sure this is the case.

So what are my options now? Without going the RedBaron route, not much...I'm not optimistic in finding out the 9-wire connector type, even less so if there's a harness built for it. I could cannibalize the now-unused bluetooth unit for the connector but that sounds wasteful, and I still have to figure out the headunit-end. I could remove all the trim pieces from console to armrest, and change out the USB/AUX for USB/HDMI. I also could just get the USB socket from headunit through the front console box... decisions decisions...
