2013 CX-5 Fan Running After Engine Turned Off

Hello Everyone,

This might be a redudant post, but I wasn't able to confirm for this generation of CX-5, hence the post.

Recently, I noticed that the Radiator Fans remained running when the car was shut off. This went on for about 8 Minutes. Is this normal? It was my dad driving, so I could not confirm the temp gauge / light (It only has a light no gauge).

It did happen once prior. I turned on the engine then, and the fans stopped. Turned the car back off, and the fans started spinning again, until they turned off by themselves.

Does anyone else have a 1st gen CX-5 with fans that do this? Or is a stuck relay or the sorts, thank you!

Yes, most (modern) cars can turn on the fan after parking and after 'spirited' driving, to prevent overheating once air stops flowing though the radiator.

The water pump pushed the hot water out of the engine into the radiator. Sometimes it's a good idea to run the engine to circulate the coolant until it's cooled down a bit.
