2010 Mazdaspeed 3 Review

That was nice

More videos are constantly popping up. This is another one that explains what was improved over the first gen in detail. Awesome review!

I know everyone says darker colors are good because they hide the "grin". I think the red is fantastic and the "grin" is not so noticeable. I think the review really showed off this design's fantastic lines. It's pretty damned sexy. I just wish they made interior a bit more subdued with red sitching and a full black color scheme. This car has the capacity to look really classy without the red dot scheme.

I think I'll be looking at this newer version in the next year or so. Great video thanks for sharing.

can anybody post pics. . . my damned computer won't let me load the latest version of flash player.

Even though I'll never trade in my first gen for this, this video made me respect the second gen a lot more than I previously did. I still can't get past the grin and the spotted interior, but I commend Mazda from making such a top notch car.

The only other thing that bothers me is...

All those options that Europe gets over us. Did you see those seat heating switches on the dash near the gearshift? I wonder/hope Mazda offers a fully loaded model with adaptive headlamps, seat heaters and HID in the future. The voice over even meantioned that some have back-up sensors!

I wish Mazda gave us their web-ordering option!

We'll see

+1

I'd be shocked if next year's model doesn't offer most of these options.

It's funny but the 3 is becoming a more upscaled car with every revision. Other than maybe thinner sheet metal and less robust paint what does the Mazda 3 lack when compared with a 3 series BMW. The newer model uses higher strength steel, has been tuned by a German Engineer and has about every option you could find on cars costing thousands more.

word!!

If you guys haven't test drove one, you need to now!

Where you'd normally start to recognize the car's limits as you push it harder in the corner, this 2010 feels that much more powerful and stronger. You never feel insecure about the car and the acceleration is smooth like butter. The steering is slightly more numb feeling but it's fantastic. If I could simply trade mine in for a sport (granted i'd lose options), and somewhere break even on price and payment, I would in an absolute heartbeat!

I always find it interesting to see how Mazda (and other car companies) treat different markets; over here, there was only one trim level of the speed3 on offer, and no options (save for dealer installed ones like iPod integration and so on). And a friend of mine complained bitterly that all the "cool options" offered standard on upper trim levels of the regular 2010 3 in other markets where abscent here (xenons, bluetooth, nav, the 10 speaker audio system) while they hiked the price by about 2,500 USD. I wonder what version of the speed we'll get.

I test drove one last week

Yeah the handling on the new one as well as the NVH improvements are very easy to see, hear and feel. I took an off ramp at about 70 and the thing held on like glue and as flat as a pancake. I didn't flog it too much because it was brand new but the overall refinement of the package make it feel more like an upscale german car. Yeah some fo the wildchild was gone but for a daily driver/rocket ship this little car is much more like a BMW than ever before.

I'll probably look at buying one sometime next year and see if Mazda updates the interior to something a littel more neutral and gives us HID, Adaptive and heated seats. Honestly with those options I can't see buying anything else close to the price with so much performance. Me also likey the red- alot.

Yeah i'll probably end up having to keep mine for another year. I may still install the MS lowering springs I have and just sell the car outright next spring. Either way, new 2010 is to die for. I absolutely freakin love it. I'd keep it entirely stock and just drive the crap out of it.

My only weird thing was the stock shifter is tall as hell, compared to my TWM short shifter. Maybe that same shifter would adapt to the 2010? The console is definitely taller on the 2010 compared to before. Maybe it won't fit?

One day...I drove an '06 RX-8(yawn)....the salesman could see I was "underwhelmed"...
he suggested a "beast" they had on the lot...an '07 MS3...wow!..quite an improvement in power compared to the RX...even quickly dispatched a guy in a somewhat modded S-2000..I then noticed a blue car..he said lets take it out...and HOLY CRAPOLA!
This car was just sooo much faster! handled sooo much better! and I'd bet any amount of money that it was way lighter than the '07 MS3...it of course was a 2010 MS3!
After years of owning GTI's(4 as a matter of fact)..no more!
Just can't decide...silver..blue..or red?
My heart/passion says the red...but my brain says go with the silver to avoid any extra attention than I'm already going to get!

Yeah the silver is awesome...but I can't help thinking bout getting the red and then
getting my hands on some of the dark RX-8 R3 19" wheels!!

Quite a visual!....of course I could also stick those wheels on the silver or blue as well!

okay finally got a chance to see the video, but still kinda skeptical about the MS3. Is it putting out the same numbers or higher ones??

Same numbers as far as power, but the 0-60 is slower and the 1/4 time is faster. Once it gets going, it breathes more efficiently from a better intake and the hood scoop. Which is why it has a quicker 1/4 time.
