Dealer just told me that the part is $276.16/per and with labor will run around $1,000. Warranty is only good for 60 mos. and 60k so this is out of pocket. Does this sound right?
Entire transmission and power transfer were replaced last month (under warranty)

thx for any help/advice

$1000 to replace the 2 hubs sound a bit high. If there are any shops around you that you trust, I'd get a second opinion. If they agree in the replacement, find out he labor costs for each place and source the parts yourself to save some money.

What was the symptom you were getting, to find out the hubs were bad already?

Almost every bearing replacement is the result of a simple problem - over tightening of lugs at tire shops and such.
This is why if anyone has to work on my car and needs to remove wheel (s), when I get home I immediately re-torque the lugs to ~85 ft. lbs. There should be more outrage about shops wrecking everyone's wheel bearings. Most people don't have a clue and get screwed as a result. It's an outrage.
