2009 Mazdaspeed 3 ????

Beautiful car...everything matches nicely.

We probably would've gotten something very similar to that, but nowadays mazda likes the 'stealth/sleeper' look on their mazdaspeeds...i own a speed and still have trouble spotting the same car on the road...the msp was a little flashier with the brighter wheels, big wing, and flashy body kit...still no word on a 2009 mazdaspeed3 though. i know speeds typically have only a two year run, but i still haven't heard anything about the speed mx-5. It will be hard to believe mazda goes a year without a speed model. I love the ms3 car and really really don't want to see it end in production....

hopefully my dealer isn't lying

I just put a deposit on a mazdaspeed 3. According to my mazda dealer, it is an '09 and it will arrive in september or october. He said he got this information from his mazda rep. There are only three possibilities here:

1) My dealer was wrong and I am actually getting a late-year '08 mazdaspeed 3.
2) My dealer is lying to me and stole my money (highly unlikely....I hope this isn't the case)
3) My dealer is telling me the truth and there will be at least a short period of '09 production of mazdaspeed 3's, of which mine will be one of the first.

I really hope option #3 (or #1) is what is happening here...I have been addicted to these cars ever since I first saw one in action and I want one badly.

with the amount of 2008 cars sitting on dealer lots right now, I would imagine production is ending shortly.

A lot of the backlog of cars sitting I have to think is self induced by some of the greedy dealers out there, with their market adjustments, test drive policies etc...

They nearly managed to turn me off the car even before I tried to get a test drive. Fortunately my dealer was easy with getting a test drive and allowed a very favorable price.

That's interesting because you have to wait until Sept/Oct. What color did you get? Maybe Mazda decided to run this car another year due to its popularity.

The color I ordered is metropolitan gray mica. Its a GT model. The dealer said because of the way his allotment is right now, his rep told him it would be best to order one of the early 2009 mazdaspeed 3's instead of a 2008, and that I could expect the car in september or october. Hopefully this isn't all bs, but so far I haven't seen any 100% proof yet that there is a 2009 mazdaspeed 3. Hopefully, what my dealer is telling me in my situation is the first evidence that mazda is continuing the mazdaspeed 3, and I will actually have one this fall.

That color along with CWP was introduced with the 2008.5 changes. They're already available. I ordered my CWP with a July delivery date but they were able to get one much sooner from another dealer in the area that got their shipment first. I'd ask the rep if they can track one down from another dealer sooner for you. I think the 2009 statement is BS but who knows.

sounds good....you're probably right. So I guess mine would probably just be a late 2008.5 model. Anyway, thanks for the help, john. In the end, I honestly don't care what year my Mazdaspeed 3 is....as long as I get one. That will just frustrate me if my dealer was lying to me about it being an '09....but I guess its possible he was just wrong and not intentionally misleading me.

Still, sept/oct for my order date could still make it an '09...maybe they're just keeping the same color available.

Either way, I just want my car! I don't care about anything else! lol.

I know how ya feel regarding wanting your car. My dealer has a CWP 08.5 on the way for me that's supposed to arrive the end of June. When the Sales Manager tried to get another CWP from another dealer so I could have one sooner, they denied his request on a dealer trade. Hopefully the car coming from Japan shows up early. (burnout)

I just called my dealer again. This time I asked him specifically if the model I was getting was a 2009 instead of a 2008. He said emphatically that the car on order IS a 2009 and that Mazda IS making a 2009 mazdaspeed 3. He claims that all the information is from his mazda rep. Either way, I'll have my car by mid-october. Hopefully its a 2009.

I wonder what the pricing is going to be on the 2009 Mazdaspeed3 considering there seems to be a quite a few changes, cosmetically at least.
Oh and those endless brakes and racing seats..

25k for sport?
27k for GT?

I've been hearing rumors of just a body freshening for the 2009 3 before the actual full redesign...even though mazda generally does only 2 year runs of their speeds maybe they'll decide to keep the speed3 going until the full redesign comes out. If the car is selling well, which it seems to be, I think mazda will keep it going. This car isn't like the speed6 which wasn't a flop, but just didn't hit the market the way mazda thought it would and dropped it. Plus I don't think mazda wants its new redesigned 6 to lose steam if they decide to debut two brand new cars in the same year. I think an updated exterior/interior of the speed 3 will make it sell even that much better...I've also been hearing reports that the speed mx-5 won't even be out until the begining of next year so we may get a new batch of 2009 speed3's to wet our whistles with.

Those nice shinny chrome wheels will most likely carry a premium as well...

Most definitely, but damn the body kit and everything in those pictures are hawt. I think the current speed3 interior would look just fine the way it is...but the wheels/brakes/body kit would look amazing especially on a color like aurora blue they have in Australia. Why we didn't get that color in the first place is beyond me...if the brakes are blue, they best bring that body color here stat!

either the guy at the dealership you're talking to is a moron or there's going to be some mixed emotions stirring up on this forum soon.
