2008 Radio "SAT and "AUX" button

I have a new Mazda3 2008. Right now I have the IPOD plugged into the 1/8" aux input in the console. I ordered a SIRIUS tuner today... my question is, after the SIRIUS tuner is connected I am no longer going to be able to use the 1/8" input jack? Is this true even though my radio has seperate AUX and SAT buttons on it?

If so, doesn't anyone know how I can tap into the AUDIO wires from the sirius tuner and splice the 1/8" jack back in? I really don't want to spend $120 or so on some electronic switch unit.

Thanks!

Is it the Sirius tuner from Mazda? If it is there should not be a problem it would be intergrated into the controls of the headunit and thus freeing the 1/8" aux input.

Yes, it is the Mazda 0000-81-G01A Sirius Tuner Kit. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to use some type of switch. Thanks for the help.

Sirius and the ACI both use the same port on the back of the HU, so having one disables the other. Mazda offers a switchbox which allows you to plug both in to the same port, you then access the functions using the buttons on the HU.

The switchbox is P/N TD1379CFZ and runs around $113.

So in that case do you know which 2 wires in the clip are the audio +,- wires? This way I can just splice the 1/8" jack into them. Of course, I am not going to use the sirius radio and ipod 1/8" jack at the same time. Does anyone know?

Sorry, you can't do it. You must use the switch box if you want Sat and Aux to both work.

why wire a manual switch when the proper equipment is available

sure, lets mount an A-B switch in the middle of the dash

I'm sorry, but if you went through the trouble of ordering the tuner from mazda, why on earth would you want to BS the switch??? if that was the case, you could've gone with a stand-alone sat receiver

I got the tuner for $150 on ebay. Looks like I will have to fork out another hundred bux or so then. I didn't know you can use another brand, aftermarket, sirius tuner with the stock mazda head unit. I have a kenwood setup in my dodge ram, but my wife insists the stock mazda HU stays in her car. If it can't be done, then I guess I will have to find the auto switch.

Stand alone satalite units are pretty ugly. I think that an extra 113 to keep my ipod connector working sucks. I was in a friends v-dub and fell in love with sirus but its not worth over 200 bucks and a monthly subscription to me.

I can tell you the pins on the head unit that are used for the jack, but I would guess you will have problems rigging up an A/B switch, but you might give it a try to save $100.

At the H/U end of the cable, there are two pins, White/Black and Brown/Green that are connected together in the cable, and connected to the shield of the cable. These two shorted together may tell the H/U the AUX is plugged in. The other three wires, Black, Red, and White go to the jack. Black is the shield on the jack with the other two the left and right channels, but I don't know which.

Good luck and don't break anything.
