2007 Mazda5
Not sure what this is all about, but it appears to be similar to the Kia Rondo... with the exception of having a strong manufacturer name behind it. Found out about it on a website sidebar ad.

Interesting. Looks like a smaller Hyundai Santa Fe or Nissan Murano (dunno)

Would it be more of a RAV4 SUV type model?

3rd row seat? The liftgate profile looks like it may not make it fit.

Shouldn't this be posted in the Nissan or Hyunai forum?

I would say no, as it does look a little bit like the Rondo, which is a direct competitor of the Mazda5 (very similar functionality, but the Ugly version [capital U] :D).

According to the article it will compete head-to-head with the RAV4 and CR-V. Yeah, Mazda5 is not an SUV (thank you Mazda) but, given how the NA market classifies cars, it is usually compared at least with the RAV4 (due to the 3rd row seat). Also, the Rogue is based on the Nissan Sentra platform, Sounds familiar to Mazda3-Mazda5 concept?

Oh well, Nissan has come long way withe regards to design, so it is good to see the market heating up more with the Rogue. Down side is that it is an SUV IMO, there are so many already. CVT and AWD welcome though (I don't drive AT, but who knows for how long MT will be able to survive for Mazda5 type cars)

Let's see how JD Power positions the Rogue, that will tell a lot on how screwed up car segments classifications are set in this market (yawn)

JD Power segment classification, Mazda5 head-to-head with the Odyssey, really?

Yeah honestly, I had no idea what the story behind it was when I posted. I was out of town all day Saturday and actually just hopped online to check the weather quick before I left when I saw this ad. Figured Id post it because it kind of looked like a Rondo.

And FWIW, I saw my first Rondo the other day here in my work parking lot. Total Dork-Mobile. Its so ugly it makes me want to cry for the person duped into buying it.

LOL Jandree... I deliberately park beside them at every opportunity, just to show off how much nicer my car is. ;)

Yeah, the Rondo is butt ugly..even the 17s can't hide/disguise the U-Factor of that vehicle.
One of the guys who works with me bought one recently and he's always talking about the convenience of this car over the Mazda5.....he sites 7-seating, V-6 and TC as some of the advantages. I agreed and responded that I would gladly give up these features to drive a better looking vehicle i.e., the Mazda5.
So we have a sort of office rivalry going between us these days (all in good fun of course). I would like to line up the cars to see which has the better pull off the line....I suspect the V6 may leave me behind, but it's worth a try. I'll let u know the outcome if this ever happens.

I have realized that Rondo owners-to-be or owners are different to the Mazda5 ones on the sense that as long as the Rondo is functional and has a lot of toys and power (i.e. V6, TC) they don't really care about how the car looks. I'm not trying to say that I'm expecting social "acceptance" from the public on what I'm driving, but why should wife or I suffer driving one of those ugly things for several years just because it has a V6 or can seat an extra soul?

Mazda5 is not perfect, let's admit it, but has a very good balance on versatility, functionality, exterior/interior design and handling. It does not neglect any.

But to keep on topic :D, the Rogue looks much better than the Rondo and might be tie with the 2007+ RAV4. Now, Rogue vs. 2007+ CR-V: CR-V IMO.

As per the Mazda5 vs. Nissan models more directly? Either the Quest (may be too big) or this one, but, no thanks (boom05). I think this is the direct competitor for the Premacy, called Livina or something like that:

Another pseudo-SUV bland bland vehicle. It's about as un-rogue as you can get! Blah!

If any rondo owner wants to go heads up on a road course or autox against me in the wife's Mazda 5 I'd gladly silence them.... I don't think I'd want 7 people in a small car anyways... 6 is pushing it sometimes too. And I bet I get better mileage and oohs n wows than rondo owners do.

If it weren't for the Rondo, the Mazda 5 would sell more. Then I'd have to get rid of it for something "original". (glare) I'm glad people have choices... and still chose what I don't like.(shocked)

Just say, "yes...your Rondo IS the best. I wish everyone would buy one." (cool)

If you have a manual tranny, you can probably whoop 'im.

Yeah, 1st gear is so short in the 5, you'd at least be able to get a jump off the line on him... But then again, other than wasting gas you're not going to accomplish a whole hell of a lot racing in either car :)

Mazda5's unique feature?
Each passenger in the Mazda5 gets a window seat. You either get a window seat or you wait for the next trip. No more kids fighting over who gets to sit by the window.
