2008 Mazda5: SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES!!!!

Does any one have any idea what the front/rear redesigns are supposed to be? Any possibility that they would use the designs from the FORD I-Max? Just curious because I can't wait until the end of summer for official pics/specs, etc.

Good question. Here's Mazda's own shiny grille design on the JDM Premacy:

A family member just bought an 07 silver one after seeing ours.... the mentioned that the salesman talk of a turbo model for 2008 also... Mazdaspeed 5 in the works? I know we all wish it to be true, and not to stir up the waters more, just passing along the word.

New user here, my parents just bought an '07 Mazda5 with my negotiating help. (I race a '93 Miata, so I'm a Mazda guy too :)). I was able to use the info in this thread to lean pretty hard on the dealer to discount the outgoing '07 models, so thanks! They are actually considering using my s-plan pricing to pick up another '08 Mazda5 if they still like this one after a few months.

This link I found seems to confirm the inclusion of stability control on the '08 Model: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ncap/cars/4460.html

If anyone is interested in what we paid for our car, it's an '07 GT, Black, with the Compass/Temp./Homelink mirror. Sticker price was 22,345 including destination. We got it for 20,000 incl. destination, which is $900+ under invoice. Nice car, not my bag (maybe with a turbo), but should work great for my parents' uses!

I was referring to the chart at the top of the page that says "this vehicle, when rated, had:". The information below that seems to be incomplete; it also does not identlfy the auto-dim rearview mirror as an option.

Well, its confusing, at best. At the top, it says three things with empty fields next to them. How can you have no curb weight? I think this section can be ignored.

The next section accurately lists options and their values. All of the options that are not available at the factory are blank (If I'm right, this might help to confirm that the car wil not have TC/ESC).

The day/night mirror is a dealer installed option, so it would not be listed here.

EDIT: Wait, the auto dimming rearview mirror is listed here. So, I don't know what to make of this...

I'm glad to see Mazda stepping things up with the 5. The Kia Rondo is going to be a tough cookie to beat, and only the brand of the vehicle stand between the two. The new 5AT brings the EPA of both into line with one another. I would actually consider purchasing one for the family trips now (after test driving it and everything else in the class of course).

all i can say is:

copper red, copper red, COPPER RED!!!!!!!!!!

I want one. Can't wait to see what the redisgned fascias look like.

Mazda is a bit silly, they've stopped production on the 2007 Mazda5 and don't have specs, options, or pricing available for the new 2008 model. How are we supposed to order a new 2008 Mazda5? Does anyone know when Mazda plans on making an official announcement?

BTW, with the new 2008 looming, what types of price breaks are people getting on 2007 Grand Tourings? Somewhere I've read that people are picking up 2007's for $900 under invoice, is this true?

Hi,

Newbie from UK here,

I'm a potential Mazda 5 purchaser. I asked Mazda UK when the 2008 model will be available. They said they would call back, that was more than a week ago!

I'm looking to do a deal in December. Is it likely that the UK 2008 model will be available by then?

Thanks

MPLEP

Boy I wish I could answer that. I emailed Mazda asking the same thing but no reply yet.

FWIW, I ordered my 5 Touring before 2007 specs were released. I had no firm pricing or feature availability. Dealer quoted me an estimate and we worked out a price from there.

And I'd be much less surprised to see them unleash a Mazdaspeed5 than I would a Mazda5 Hybrid. Unfortunately, I highly doubt both (sad2)
