hey guys I have a 2008 mazda 6i with close to 7000 miles on it. I drive about 300 miles a week, mostly highway. The question that I have is when should I change my transmission fluid and filter. I want to keep this car for a very long time and I dont want the trans dieing on me you know.

Just for clarification we're talking the automatic, right?

There is no serviceable filter from what I've read in the technical manuals but I could be wrong about that, lol. I don't know the timeframe for regular maintenance on the transmission but I wouldn't let it go more than 2 years or 30,000 miles.

I installed a transmission cooler on mine from B&M (either 70268 or 70264, can't remember the thicker one that comes with the install kit) and will be installing a Magnefine inline filter within the comings months, so I can actually service that. I'd also recommend switching up to a synthetic ATF such as Amsoil or Redline. These three items will go a very long way in helping your transmission last longer.

And we have an I4 engine layout, not a V4.

thanks for letting me know about the i4 instead of v4. I have one more question which is should I change the transmission fluid or just do a flush, if I should do the flush how often should I flush it so it does not create any problem with the transmission which I know could happen if you wait a long time to flush and out of no where decide to flush the transmission.
