2008 Fastest cars under 25k

Compared to the caliber the cobalt looks like a princess. It's a neat little car and good competition for us imo. I love my ms3 though, and it will take a lot of convincing for me to give it up unless I win the lotto or inherit a lot of $ from that little known uncle. I think Mazda should up the ante on the future ms3- 300-320 hp sounds about right.

today's hot hatches are going to run smack into the new cafe standards wall. Sad, but true. Enjoy it now while we can, because these cars will be the last of a dying breed unless the new fuel economy standards aren't repealed.

the should make new rx7 I love this car and propably will buy one(fd3s) in near future...

It would be great if they did, but very unrealistic. My mom's rx8 on gets 15 mpg highway, so adding a turbo to it you might never hit double digits for gas mileage. Would be a fun car though.

I think 263 is just fine. Lets not bring this car into another category. 320hp for a econo-wagon is just ludicrous. Next thing you know, it'll be a $35,000 car like the STi.

Well price will definitely be an issue but I'll be willing to pay up to 30k if they can offer performance in that range. 320 crank isn't far away from what some people are getting now with boost controllers and downpipes btw so I wouldn't call that ludicrous (yet). If they get too pricey they'll lose out to the competitors so that will be a bad move.

Pesonally, I have no problem with the ms3 graduating from an 'every-noob-can-own-one' econobox to something a little more exclusive.

+1

I think anything more than 250hp is too much for an FWD.
Having said that Mazda did an amazing job with the torque steer.
My RSX felt like it had more ts problems even with way less power.

You saying the MS3 doesn't have horrendous torque steer? I've only driven high horsepower RWD in the past, so any torque steer is horrible for me haha

I guess I am used to it after owning several FWDs.

The next car I purchase will either be RWD or AWD though. *^_^*

I think the MS3 is awesome for what it is but if you're going to get real serious into racing I would look into a different platform RWD / AWD. If you're just looking for a fun powerful / affordable daily driver that can embarrass high $$ sports cars from a roll (with minor mods), the MS3 is one of the best choices out there.

No, not really. Torque steer is real minor, from what I've felt in the past few days I've had the car. I had an RSX Type S also and it had more torque steer than the MS3 with almost half the torque. This car handles quite well for a FWD car. It almost feels RWD to me the way it turns in.

The electronic nannies put a lot of TS to rest, but leave you sitting there going where's the rest of the 263 horsepower I do have? LMAO It's pathetic in first and second while going around a curve... really, really toned down.

This is true but the gearing is so short that you could put it in 3rd and still have plenty of power for most situations (@ only 35mph we're real close to 3k rpm in 3rd gear). I normally only use 1st and 2nd just to get things going. 1st gear is almost useless though lol!
