Hello,
I am new here and would like to say hello and ask a question. I have a 2007 RX-8 which I purchased new. I had the dealer install the iPod kit from Mazda at the time I purchased it. I would like to install a Sirrius radio (it is a small add on - not an in dash unit). Does anyone have a suggestion on how to best do this?
I asked the dealer and it was like $200. I tried buying a cable with a female iPod connector and an aux plug to go into the Sirrius. It works for about 20-30 secs. and then the radio shuts off. Apparently since the Sirrius isn't sending data back to the radio the way the iPod does, it doesn't see the radio and shuts off.
Is there another plug in the radio for an aux cable? It really bugs me to spend $200 for the dealer to do this. I am somewhat handy but I don't want to mess the radio or the dash up trying to install it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I bought the Mazda because I wanted a rotary engine. I love the car but they don't make it easy for us non-dealer folks to do things.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer,
Robin
