- 2007 Mazda3 i Touring AT
Hello all. I have thus far been unsuccessful in trying to find any information about what may be causing this problem.
I have a 2007 Mazda3 i Touring, AT, power locks/windows. My issue is that the power locks are unlocking themselves. Initially when I noticed the issue, it was happening every couple of minutes, and they would unlock about 3-4 times. I took it to a mechanic that was open on the weekend to try and get a diagnosis, but after dropping it off they told me they could not replicate the issue. So I picked it up and lo and behold, as soon as I start the car and drive away the doors start unlocking themselves again. I immediately bring it to the dealership I purchased it from, demonstrate the problem to them, and they try taking out the remote battery, whereupon the issue stops.
Thinking we solved the issue I returned home. Several hours later I notice the car is doing it again, while the remote battery is still out. I call the dealership again and they say it could be the BCM, and that might cost around $7-800 to fix, but they'd call me back in the morning with an exact quote.
Well they called me back and it seems they now think it might be the "remote control module" (his words), to the tune of $420 to replace.
Does anyone have any insight on this issue at all?
It happens whether the car is on or off, whether the remote battery is in or out of the remote, and it is only unlocking. The lights do not flash when it happens, the interior lights just come on.
