2007 GT Shift boot

Hey, I am not exactly sure if this is the correct area, but this seems to be the most active board in the MS3 section.

I was doing some cleaning today and it suddenly hit me that my shift boot has no red stitching. I was wondering if the pre-08.5 models did not have red stitching or simply the previous owner swapped them?

I have no idea why the past owner would swap them out, but it does mean that it is another thing on my to-do list(headshake.

Is the shift boot real leather, if so the previous owner swapped it out. The factory one is vinyl and is cheap feeling.

The Mazdaspeed6's shift boot did not have red stitching IIRC. Maybe the previous owner swapped those...if indeed, like ras said, your current shift boot is vinyl/pleather.

If you're thinking about getting something higher quality, I really like the Redline Goods set up I have. Stock shift boot, but the brake boot and arm rest cover are theirs. High quality stuff, it's nicer that the stock boot and the stitching matches perfectly.

Is that a short shifter? PO might have changed because of that. If you want to unload that shift boot, let me know. I actually like it without the red.

No I don't think the throw is any shorter.

I will keep you in mind when I do swap out the boot.

I also noticed that it is not the correct trim either, the ring around mine is black while the MS3 should have silver.

Rotus: If your boot is in good condition perhaps a simple trade would be a good idea. Although I am still on the fence, if the stock ones are not that nice, I may just buy a nice Redline Leather one.

The stock ones are not that nice. Your PO might have just painter the trim around there. I'm not sure, but i don't think that bezel is a separate piece.
