Hello all. I am usually over in the Protege5 build forum (Laser Blue Protege5 Build), but I am embarking on a new project, in addition to keeping my P5 going. I've had Mazdas for many years and finally got ahold of one I have been seeking. It's rough, but also didn't cost a great deal. It's running and with a tune up and some wear and tear replacement, it will be on the road in Southern Arizona. The paint, interior, suspension and wheels will come after it is running well again.

Started some assessment and testing what needs attention first. #1, the AC compressor pulley bearing is making a lot of noise and that prevents hearing much else going on with the engine. So it is going to be the first repair. I don't intend to pull the compressor, but am trying to make as much room as possible to get to the pulley. I also took a stab at the headlights and it seems they will clean up and polish well.

Worked the first repair on the Swagon. A/C compressor had a bad pulley bearing. Got a kit with new coil, pulley with bearing and new clutch. A few hours of wrenching and everything was back in place and working well without a groaning pulley. Now I can hear all the other sounds the engine is making. Noticed the deteriorated torque mount underneath and believe the passenger side engine mount may be shot as well, based on sounds and shaking. New mounts all the way around is on the books now. Spark plugs and coils are also on the way. Looks like I have some oil leakage, but not sure on the exact source yet, so that will take investigation.
