yup
When i went shopping for a new car, i visited my local mazda dealership FIRST. Because I had to see this new MSP. When i saw it in person, pictures didn't do it justice.. i was like omg! thats HOTTTTTTTT. I sat in it, the shifter felt so good + the steering wheel. The sound system was even really good. (im not an audiophile) Loud bass.
Then i saw the price tag and it shot that right out the window. It was going to run me about 400$ a month plus 150$ a month for full coverage.
I wanted to check out a mini cooper S, but the closest dealership was about 350 miles away... Then i went and looked at the sentra, i saw it at the 2001 detroit auto show, and didnt think much of it. I was like... yeah its a nice car, but why would I want a sentra.. i mean.. ive had 2 300zx's and mustangs.. I wanted a car with potential, that took to mods well.
I finally ended up with a 2003 Sentra SE-R V Spec, with every option in the color i wanted for $17,200. It handles unbelievable! If your guys mazda's can handle better then this, we need to meet up and drive each other's car! The brakes are extremely strong, I'd imagine if the Bremo's are any stronger looking at the brake pedal will cause them to lock up.
With that sad, i'll say my rants. The interior, although very comfortable, is also really bland. I hate the "plastic grey" look. The shifter started out feeling Extremely notchy, very Solid. I like this, since i previously owned a mustang with a Hurst shifter. Now it has smoothed out much since its break in. It has some wicked torque steer, but i dont notice it anymore.. .just make sure you have a firm hold on the wheel before mashing the throttle. Then lastly, wheel hop. The first couple thousand miles it would hop really bad launching in first and hop for about 2-3 seconds with a hard shift into 2nd. Its now almost gone, but im still getting mounts for it.
I've turned a best 15.6@89 completly stock while granny shifting. alot of guys on the vboard get 15.1-15.3 stock some are doing 14.9 with CAIs. I'd like to say the sentra se-r/v spec is the best bang for the buck... but not the best car. It does take to mods pretty well... but not like a turbo car. The transmission is from the maxima, so it should hold a good amount of power.. I just dont think the engine is up to handling more then like 250ish.
