Dodge seems to like this idea too :D

Great bang for the buck...Ha Ha...and you sure know about bang for the buck, don't you??...(loser)
Ahhh.....whatever the **** that means?!

yea the 2004s are ugly...but I LOVE the new blue color...*drool*

Nissan probally would sell more spec v's if they made ABS a stand alone option in canada.

ABS for like 750 dollars...it's the best deal you'd beable to get for 22K Canadian, performance new car wise.

That Brembo Package with 4 piston calipers is only $2800 CAN for sunroof/ RF 300 watt stereo plus a few more goodies..

That's like $12.36 American!!! When I saw the $24K price tag (w/ the brakes) I couldn't believe it...until I realized it was Canadian. Still I would opt for...dare I say the Neon....for that price tag.

prices aren't a straight conversion like that. Never has been, never will be. This has been discussed MANY times before, take a look around as to why.....as I can't remember :)

Espically with the canadian dollar slowly going up up up...:)

the front looks like a marauder...i dunno, spec v is just a GXE with a few extra HP and a little different front end.

Well, that's a wee bit misinforming.

Completely different engine, 6-speed transmission, firmed up suspension and bushings, much better seats, shift knob, 300W stereo, 17" wheels, etc. The GXE and the Spec V are as different as the Mazdaspeed Protege and the Protege DX.

I'd never buy a GXE, but I would buy a Spec V (2003, mind you) if I didn't have this pesky orange car taking up my parking spot. :)

It's not even a good car.

It's basically buying the most budget car (as in poorly designed) on the market and adding a new engine. No good, it'll never be as good as the Protege, unless they add a whole new platform.

Btw it's 6 speed stinks, it shifts horribly.

I actually love Nissans, my dad was a Maxima and 240sx owner but the Sentra Spec V is a crap car. Don't even consider it.

What's up with Nissan and that ugly ass grill?

Nissan used to be my favorite car company in the looks department, but now they are quickly falling to last place. Their cars are starting to look so ugly.
Did someone else take over for Nissan? Did they get a new president or something?

?? Budget car....? The 03's have different gearing than the 02's and they shift pretty good imo.

Once again.... Im too lazy to read all the post soooo.... here's my 2 cents..

My boyfriend has a sentra. He's getting 15.2 in a quarter mile which is better than any stock MP3. You gotta factor in that the spec-v cost about 4 thousand dollars more than the mp3 so I could turbo my car for the price he paid for his.

Then you gotta think that the maxima is 255 horse-power vs the 175 on the Spec-v. My room mate has the 2002 6-Speed Maxima. It is running mostly 15s in the quarter. He pulled a 14.6 this past sunday. So my roomy spent about 8 thousand more than my boyfriend and gained less than a second.

At first I didn't like the style of the sentra very much, but let me assure you that after riding in the car, YOU WILL LOVE IT. There is a body-kit for the car that is modeled after the R34. (i'll post pics after my bf puts it on).

Final opinion.
Sentra is a bad ass car. very good performance and handling
I would still stick with the mp3 because nothing beats uniqueness.
And the Maxima is luxurious but overpriced.

PS... the quarter mile times are pretty accurate. those are the average of about 50 times down the track.

WOW, I just saw the post saying the spec v is crap... Go test drive one before forming an opinion by reading these post. The spec v is much more sporty than the maxima.. It handles a LOT better. Im not talking out of my ass... i get the chance to compare them every day with my bf and roomate.
I would get the spec-v before the maxima

hey- I got both!

I have an MSP and my wife has a spec v. They are very different cars...both good in different ways.

The MSP has it over the V (IMHO) in the feel of the steering wheel..way lighter touch. The V has nice seats and a nice "packed" interior.. The 2003 gearbox is much much much improved..shifts are pretty smooth.

The handling is very good..no body roll (like the MSP) and it was nice to drive a car without "the clunk" lol

The engine on the V is very smooth, and has a nice wide power band with TORQUE. The MSP and the V feel about the same in quickness, and the stats are almost even. I still prefer the MSP but I was impressed with the V.

And 17k out the door is nothing to sneeze at.

yup

When i went shopping for a new car, i visited my local mazda dealership FIRST. Because I had to see this new MSP. When i saw it in person, pictures didn't do it justice.. i was like omg! thats HOTTTTTTTT. I sat in it, the shifter felt so good + the steering wheel. The sound system was even really good. (im not an audiophile) Loud bass.

Then i saw the price tag and it shot that right out the window. It was going to run me about 400$ a month plus 150$ a month for full coverage.

I wanted to check out a mini cooper S, but the closest dealership was about 350 miles away... Then i went and looked at the sentra, i saw it at the 2001 detroit auto show, and didnt think much of it. I was like... yeah its a nice car, but why would I want a sentra.. i mean.. ive had 2 300zx's and mustangs.. I wanted a car with potential, that took to mods well.

I finally ended up with a 2003 Sentra SE-R V Spec, with every option in the color i wanted for $17,200. It handles unbelievable! If your guys mazda's can handle better then this, we need to meet up and drive each other's car! The brakes are extremely strong, I'd imagine if the Bremo's are any stronger looking at the brake pedal will cause them to lock up.

With that sad, i'll say my rants. The interior, although very comfortable, is also really bland. I hate the "plastic grey" look. The shifter started out feeling Extremely notchy, very Solid. I like this, since i previously owned a mustang with a Hurst shifter. Now it has smoothed out much since its break in. It has some wicked torque steer, but i dont notice it anymore.. .just make sure you have a firm hold on the wheel before mashing the throttle. Then lastly, wheel hop. The first couple thousand miles it would hop really bad launching in first and hop for about 2-3 seconds with a hard shift into 2nd. Its now almost gone, but im still getting mounts for it.

I've turned a best 15.6@89 completly stock while granny shifting. alot of guys on the vboard get 15.1-15.3 stock some are doing 14.9 with CAIs. I'd like to say the sentra se-r/v spec is the best bang for the buck... but not the best car. It does take to mods pretty well... but not like a turbo car. The transmission is from the maxima, so it should hold a good amount of power.. I just dont think the engine is up to handling more then like 250ish.
