2003.5 MSP (Titanium)
I am soon to become a Mazdaspeed owner but I cannot decided whether to get the 2003 in black mica or the 2003.5 in titanium gray. I am stuck when it comes to deciding which one I like more (styling and color). Please reply everyone with your opinion on the two and which one everyone likes more. Thanks...

Paint color: Titanium 2003.5

Easy to maintain and won't show every little swirl or scratch like black. The color is an absolute show stopper.

Features and Styling: Black Mica 2003

The lip on the 2003.5 in person looks slapped on IMO because there is a gap between the lower grill plastic and the added lip. Sparco aftermarket goodies (not on 2003.5) and fog lamps close the deal for me.

Go with the 2003 if you like the sparco goods and stock look. If you are bad about maintaining paint and like the new lip sans fogs then 2003.5 is they way to go.

The TI is just simply put, SEXY (naughty). The pictures do it no justice. The wing is not as bad as I though and I actuayl very much like the car. If I didn't want to see the majority of the dealers in my area dead, I would have bought one instead of holding onto the MP3.

I JUST GOT MY 2003.5 TITANIUM 2 WEEKS AGO W/ 5 MILES ON IT AND PAID BELOW INVOICE FOR IT. sorry for caps
But this car is a lot of fun!

I saw all of them in person.

Here's MY preference:

1- SO
2- Titanium
3- Black
4- Yellow (looks like vomit)

It also comes on blue but have not seen in person

1 - Titanium
2 - Black
3 - Blue
4 - Yellow
5 - Orange
6 - Silver (this is just a stupid color for a MSP)

i personally like the black, vs titanium, but the titanium is very nice. The 03.5 does have the darker rims, and better spoiler, but, the im a fan of black cars, and i like the sparco stuff better than the mazdaspeed stuff.

2003.5, look at my avatar, need I say more, I love it soo much. Couldn't tell you bout the 2003, cause I own a 2003.5, but I'm sure it's still really good, just sayin', I like mine more, and everybody will say that about their own, cause we love em' so much...well, most of us anyways

gee, I wonder ???? HMmmmm :)

Personally, the MSP should stand out to some degree. The Black does not. It's too much like an ES with different wheels. Like a total sleeper, then back it is.

The sparco stuff: Not a decision maker, and shouldn't be. Have you used both shifters? DO IT. Then decide. Sparco is just a label, that's it.

I have never seen any other paint like the titanium. I have a MP3, and blue was my favorite color. Now, it's just boring, just a everyday color.

I used to detail cars. Black is gorgeous for the 10 mins it's clean. But it's a pain in the ass to keep it looking new and clean. Black also ages horribly.

Waxing, and taking care of the titanium so far is a joy. And the finish on the wheels is by far the best I've seen in a long time. I could have a shave using my wheels as a mirror.

my 2 cents

Thank you very much for all the inputs. I'm starting to lean more towards the titanium. Also, I just read somewhere that mazda is working on beefing up the 2004 MSpeed to be 200hp+... Has anyone heard similar?

I do not think there will be an 04 MSP, as the entire Protege platform is being replaced with the Mazda3

Between the black and the titanium.....Titanium for sure, but the orange is just beautiful

Id like to see the 03.5 with some after factory fogs because I just plain think it needs them. As for as the color. The titanium is one of the most B E A utiful colors I have ever seen on a car. Knowing that Mazda paint is really crappy Ive decided that when my MP5 needs repainting, Titanium will be the color.

I have yet to see someone even mntion this let alone see it from a reliable source. I thnk you may have been reading about the Mazdaspeed Miata do out soon.

another difference

between the mica and titanium is the seats. the mesh is on the back one, but just designed to look like mesh on the 2003.5. my dealership still has mica ones sitting around. i stole the last orange one...
and i love it!!!

Nice tint job, Spoolboy. I like it so much I got it done myself. Tint King charged me $220 with the strip along the sun visor.
I really like the Blazing Yellow in direct sunlight, but in the shadows its not so great.
